Thoughts on Aury?

Like the title says. Would you assume Aury is female? Thoughts on it in general?

I really like Aury! It sounds really nice and has soft, sweet vibes. I think Aury works well for a boy or a girl, I prefer it for a boy. I wouldn’t assume Aury is female.

I love it, but I would assume it’s a girl name

I would assume first that it was a misspelling of [name_u]Maury[/name_u] :woman_shrugging:t2:

I would assume boy.

i’m relatively neutral on it, i’m unsure of how to pronounce it, somehow?? and i wouldn’t assume aury is female, however it wouldn’t surprise me if it was male.

Aury is intriguing - rugged, cool and gentle all at once - golden, autumn-y in feel.

I don’t think I’d be able to guess gender from Aury

Seems perfectly neutral to me, and I especially like it for a boy. Warm and understatedly unique.

Where I live Aury is the most common nickname for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], which happens to be the second most popular name of the country. But I think it is fine where you live.

Reminds me of things going “awry”

If it’s pronounced same as [name_u]Ari[/name_u] (as I’m imagining looking at it), then yes, I’d assume female. If it’s more OW-ree, then I wouldn’t know.

I would assume male - it is a name for a smart, sensitive and handsome little chappy!

Yes.
First I would assume a girl.
If corrected, I would assume it was short for [name_m]Aurelius[/name_m] / [name_m]Aurelio[/name_m]

I really like Aury! It feels warm and bright and interesting and pleasantly unexpected. The only Aury I’ve met IRL was nonbinary, so based on association it feels pretty gender neutral to me; I don’t think I’d assume any particular gender.

I’ve never heard Aury before, but [name_u]Ori[/name_u] is an Israeli name that is gender neutral, meaning ‘light.’ It skews male though.

How are you pronouncing it? If it’s like [name_u]Rory[/name_u] without the R, I’d probably think I’d just misheard. But I wouldn’t assume it to either gender, it’s one of those unusual but still feels familiar enough not to be super out there names
