[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] honors, bonuses are a great meaning (“desired”) and the adorable nickname [name_f]Avie[/name_f] (av-ee). I’ve only considered it as a middle name but I am starting to get really charmed by it for a first name. Thoughts of the name in general (I personally prefer the av-uh-line pronunciation) and also how it sounds with [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. I find girl names very hard. I love or like a handful but they are not names I would actually name a daughter.
I like the way it looks on paper a lot, not so into the nicknames, but for me that’s not a deal breaker. I keep wanting to pronounce it av-uh-leen, so you may get some different pronunciations from people.
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] gives me the imagery of clear blue water which is pretty, though it goes against the meaning of “tree,” haha. It feels very calm and beautiful.
I’d also suggest [name_f]Avalon[/name_f].
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] is very pretty. It’s a little different in style to [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] but with the right middle i think it could work
I adore [name_f]Aveline[/name_f]. I have [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] [name_f]Elara[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] somewhere on my long list. To me, [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] is so soft, pretty and sweet. [name_m]Calm[/name_m] and charming kinda girl. Your [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is lovely, and it sounds perfect next to [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f] and [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] is such an elegant name. I guess pronunciation could be an issue, but I would instinctively pronounce it the [name_m]French[/name_m] way, which is the only pronunciation I like. I also see it as distinct from [name_f]Adeline[/name_f], [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] and [name_f]Ava[/name_f] - I like it so much more than those.
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] would be gorgeous.
I like [name_f]Aveline[/name_f], although I haven’t seen any pronunciation other than av-uh-leen or av-uh-line. I tend to prefer -leen names in general to -line names, so I would pronounce it the first way.
I love [name_f]Aveline[/name_f]! It’s one of the sweetest names I know of. It’s unique but accessible and nickname [name_f]Avie[/name_f] is to die for. My only concern is that I’ve only ever heard of people pronouncing it like Avelyn, which is also the pronunciation I prefer. Since it’s so close to [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] it definitely works with the more familiar [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f]!
I think it’s very pretty, and [name_f]Avie[/name_f] is a cute nn (though my instinct is to pronounce A-V not av-ee).
[name_f]Aveline[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] is very nice as well. I think [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] & [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] don’t really work for sisters though, since [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] & [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] are so common, easy to pronounce / spell, and are well known, while [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] is uncommon, not as intuitive to pronounce, and [name_f]Aveline[/name_f] would never find her name on stuff, while [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] & [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] I’m sure would all the time.
Thank you, all, very much for giving me your opinions!
I think it’s gorgeous. It hurts my head a little because my brain keeps trying to pronounce it four different ways:
AV (like HAVE)-uh-line
AV-uh-leen
AY-vuh-line
AY-vuh-leen
But, for friends and family, I suspect this issue would go away in a few weeks after they’ve used the name a hundred times.
I like the nickname [name_f]Avie[/name_f] a lot! [name_m]How[/name_m] would you pronounce it? AV-ie (like have-ee) or AY-vie? I’m partial to the second pronunciation (even if you prefer to pronounce the full name AV-uh-line or something, I still think AY-vie is cuter).
I actually love Aveline, I love the way it looks and the way it sounds. My only hold up is pronunciation.
I love AY-Vuh-line or AH-vuh-leen but I’m not so fond of the other pronunciations.
AH-vuh-lynn sounds too similar to Evelyn, Ah-vuh-line sounds too similar to Adeline, Ay-vuh-leen sounds harsh and kind of like Maybelline.
Maybe I’m over thinking it but I’ve been going back and forth about this name for awhile
