I thought it was a made up name, but did some research and it’s actually an Anglo [name_m]Saxon[/name_m] surname that comes from [name_m]Everley[/name_m]/[name_f]Everleigh[/name_f] - a place in Wiltshire, [name_f]England[/name_f].
I like it more than [name_f]Adeline[/name_f] because it’s different, but because of the Av- it does sound made up. Like you’re trying to make [name_f]Ava[/name_f] more interesting, or be creative with [name_u]Everly[/name_u].
I’ve heard this one a few times, actually! I always assumed it was made up, too. Interestingly enough, while I would Ahv-er-lee (‘a’ like in the world apple), I know only one girl who uses that pronunciation…the others all say it similar to the name [name_u]Avery[/name_u], plus [name_u]Lee[/name_u].
It’s sort of pretty. I can see the appeal. Unfortunately, it reminds me way too much of the [name_u]Everly[/name_u] trend, so I doubt I would ever fully like this name.
I like it! It’s fresher than [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and [name_u]Avery[/name_u] and reminds me of [name_u]Waverly[/name_u].
