Thoughts on Blake for a girl

[name_u]Love[/name_u], like or hate?

I love a lot of unisex/masculine names on girls, but unfortunately [name_u]Blake[/name_u] is not one of them. I am not quite sure why. It is just not appealing to me. So sorry!

Suggestions ~
[name_u]Lake[/name_u]
[name_f]Bree[/name_f]
[name_f]Briar[/name_f]
[name_f]Bryony[/name_f]
[name_u]Tate[/name_u]

I wouldn’t use it myself but I do think it is really pretty and could suit all ages and personalities. [name_u]Blake[/name_u] just sounds like a really cool and beautiful girl to me.

I choose option 4: eh, non-committal noises
[name_f]Do[/name_f] I hate it? No. [name_f]Do[/name_f] I like it? Not really. I dislike the name in general and if I were to be persuaded into using it then I’d use it on a boy.
Does that mean you shouldn’t use it if you love it? No, I think it’s definitely becoming more seen on girls and some people say it sounds ‘girly’ (whatever that means). It’s just that I personally wouldn’t. It’s so far removed from my general taste in names.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Blake[/name_u] for a girl! I actually hate it for a boy, but I think most people think the opposite.

I’m neutral as well. I don’t dislike it, but I wouldn’t choose it.

I like it. I prefer [name_u]Blair[/name_u]. [name_u]Blake[/name_u] Lively puts it in recognizable girls’ territory. If you love it, it’s definitely usable.

To me, [name_u]Blake[/name_u] seems very dated for boys and I feel like it is dated on a girl too. I love unisex names though and am already looking at new choices such as [name_u]Luca[/name_u] and [name_u]Max[/name_u]!

I was slightly worried it’s not accepted by all as a girls name yet? If you know what i mean?

It’s hard because I don’t like [name_u]Blake[/name_u] either for a boy or a girl. [name_u]Lake[/name_u], on the other hand, I love. I think I’ve taught too many Blakes I disliked. :frowning: But it sounds like a reasonable name to me.

[name_u]Leslie[/name_u]

I don’t personally love it, but that’s just my taste. I don’t see at all why it wouldn’t work on a girl, since [name_u]Blake[/name_u] Lively is so well-known and it’s becoming more popular for girls.

I don’t like it. Its too harsh for a girl.

I don’t love it for either sex but I much prefer it on a girl.

Its nice. I like that its a bit sharp, with a softer middle name it would be really pretty.

Personally, I like [name_u]Blake[/name_u] as a middle for a girl rather than a first name. For example: [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] [name_u]Blake[/name_u].

Not a fan of [name_u]Blake[/name_u] for a girl. It’s a boy’s name through and through. I tend to stay away from B names, though.

I like it. It is definitely becoming more recognizable as a unisex name. If you are worried maybe [name_u]Blakely[/name_u] is another option with nn [name_u]Blake[/name_u]?

[name_u]Blake[/name_u] is one of my very favorite girl names, because it’s short, sweet, and sounds really sophisticated to me. It’s just beautiful and unique without being forceful; I think using pretty masculine boy names for girls, like [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], is too forceful for my tastes. But since so many people have mixed opinions on it, I think I’d like to reserve it for a middle. It would be a perfect middle name for almost anything.

I hate it on a girl.
