Thoughts on Braven

I ran across the name Braven, and the more I think about it the more I like it. I’ve never heard of it before, it doesn’t even have a page on nameberry. [name_m]Just[/name_m] curious what others think about it.

I have a son named [name_u]Brighton[/name_u], and if I had another boy I thought they sound cute together. However, is it too cheesy? [name_u]Bright[/name_u] and Brave? I don’t have a thing for virtue names, I just like the idea of strong names that aren’t over used but aren’t too out there.

Thoughts?

Unfortunately, I think Braven will probably be misheard as [name_m]Braden[/name_m]/[name_u]Brayden[/name_u] quite often, which would make is seem less unique than you might like.
Braven is stylistically similar to Brighton, and I can see why it would appeal to you - perhaps it would work as a middle name?

Some more virtue-name ideas (just in case you do decide to stick with the theme):

[name_m]Truman[/name_m], [name_m]Truett[/name_m]
Merit, [name_u]Merritt[/name_u]
[name_m]Prosper[/name_m]
[name_m]Freeman[/name_m]

[name_m]Loyal[/name_m], [name_m]Loyall[/name_m]
Revere
[name_m]Constant[/name_m]
Credence
[name_m]Abel[/name_m]
[name_u]Sterling[/name_u]
[name_m]Victor[/name_m]
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Earnest[/name_m], [name_m]Ernest[/name_m]
[name_m]Noble[/name_m]
[name_m]Valor[/name_m]

I agree with onomastodon that it is likely to often be misheard for [name_u]Brayden[/name_u].

I think it would work as a middle name, but can’t imagine it as a first. Sorry.

I love the name Braven! Especially with [name_u]Brighton[/name_u]. I think [name_u]Bright[/name_u] and Brave are amazing together! I always loved the name Brave (although mainly for a girl), but Braven is such a great find! I’m from the UK, and the name [name_m]Braden[/name_m]/[name_u]Brayden[/name_u] is very rare so I highly doubt it would be mistaken for that over here.

I agree that it’d get mixed up with [name_u]Brayden[/name_u] (which I’m not fond of) a lot + I think it’s too much like his brother’s name. It could make a cool middle name though.
What about [name_u]Eden[/name_u], [name_u]Ren[/name_u], [name_m]Reuben[/name_m], [name_m]Damien[/name_m], [name_m]Holden[/name_m], [name_m]Bastien[/name_m], [name_m]Bergen[/name_m], [name_m]Boden[/name_m], [name_m]Madden[/name_m] or [name_m]Bowen[/name_m]?

I actually really like Braven! It strikes me as a name that might be quite difficult for a child to pull off, but the sibset would be adorable!
As others have said, it might be misheard as [name_m]Braden[/name_m] - although that’s not particularly common outside of [name_u]America[/name_u], so it might not be a problem depending on where you’re from - but I also think it might be misheard as [name_u]Raven[/name_u].
To be fair, though, my name is mispronounced all the time, and it isn’t particularly difficult, so I suppose all names have their issues. It is a really sweet name, though.

I think it’s more likely to be confused with [name_u]Raven[/name_u] than [name_u]Braiden[/name_u]. It could always be shortened to Brave or [name_m]Vin[/name_m] if it’s an issue as well!

I think it’s too close to [name_u]Brighton[/name_u].

As in “braving the weather”?

Braven is the name of a movie starring [name_m]Jason[/name_m] Momoa that came out in [name_f]February[/name_f]. That might make it slightly more familiar.

I kind of like the name. I think it definitely works as a sibset.

Braven feels a little bit too trendy to me, however I do think its wonderful with [name_u]Brighton[/name_u]!

That might be part of the appeal of the name for me. It sounds and feels trendy, but it actually isn’t a popular frequently used name.

I too have never heard of it but my first thought was I like it. That said I think the two names would be very close in sound.

I actually really like Braven! I’ve never heard of it before, but I like the sound of it. I agree that sometimes it might get misheard, but you could always just correct them!

I think [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] and Braven, [name_u]Bright[/name_u] & Brave, make such a handsome, sweet set of brothers!

It’s not my style but I may be biased cause the meanest girl I’ve met is named [name_m]Draven[/name_m]. But honestly, the two names go great together and I think that’s really cute without being too cheesy. So yeah, definitely go with it if that’s what you like!

Since [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] is a place name, why don’t you check the Nameberry list of place names to see if one sounds good with [name_u]Brighton[/name_u]?
Would you actually call them [name_u]Bright[/name_u] and Brave as nicknames? They sound like [name_f]Indian[/name_f] (Native American) names.
I was thinking [name_u]Brighton[/name_u] and [name_m]Grayson[/name_m] sounded cute, but [name_u]Bright[/name_u] and [name_u]Gray[/name_u] is humorous.
[name_u]Brighton[/name_u] and [name_m]Houston[/name_m], [name_u]Bright[/name_u] and [name_m]Hugh[/name_m]?

That’s really funny that you suggested [name_u]Grey[/name_u]. [name_u]Brighton[/name_u]’s middle name is [name_m]Asher[/name_m], so sometimes we call him “bash” as a nick name. I randomly wrote down the name [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]Rey[/name_u] they other day thinking of the nickname [name_u]Grey[/name_u], but I didn’t even make the [name_u]Bright[/name_u] and [name_u]Grey[/name_u] connection. Too funny.

It’s one of those names that’s gonna sound like you were trying to give a trendy name a unique twist, making it double trendy
