Thoughts on Brooke/Brooklynn

Still trying to come up with the right name for our daughter due in [name_f]May[/name_f]. We thought of [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] or [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u], and while it’s never been on my radar, I kind of like it. It feels down to earth and simple and complete.

I’m wondering what you think when you hear this name, is it too dated? [name_u]Or[/name_u] would it still seem cute and somewhat cool on a little girl today?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] or just [name_u]Brooke[/name_u]?

Thanks!!

I love [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u], it’s been at the top of my girls list for a long time! I’d rather use [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] as a nn but that’s just my personal opinion. I don’t think that [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] is dated since I know or heard of a few between the age of 4 - 28. [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] gives me a very nice summer night by the bonfire vibe! Good luck naming your baby girl🍀

I love [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]!
I have only ever met one [name_u]Brooke[/name_u], so it’s not too common, but still very cute.

Congratulations on your baby girl :tada:

[name_f]My[/name_f] naming style is princess frilly whimsical so for me Brooke/Brooklyn isn’t stereotypically my vibe (however I love [name_u]Brooks[/name_u] for boys) but I have a major soft spot for [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u]. I think [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] is preppy, fun, has a nostalgic 90s feel (I know lots of 90s born people called Brooklyn) and feels relaxed. I would say Brooklyn/Brooke is slightly dated but to be honest she’s not awkwardly dated like some names can be she actually feels nostalgic… almost comforting. I think [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] nickname [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] works fabulously!

I knew a Brooke growing up and I was so jealous of her name (and her long black hair!). I’m partial to Brooke and also because I don’t typically go for “lyn” names but I do think there is something heartwarming and restful about Brooklyn so all being equal for you, I would use Brooklyn and nn Brooke. I see Brooklyn as a girl who knows herself, can dip in or out of a crowd as she needs, happy and easy - except on a sports field when she is a beast.

I much prefer just [name_u]Brooke[/name_u]! It feels strong and rugged, but easily feminine and glitzy too! It has a distinct sound

I love [name_u]Brooke[/name_u], and maybe I’m biased by my own experiences because every single [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] I’ve ever met has been drop dead gorgeous and so sweet. It has a very calm, earthy vibe and a distinct sound. I very much agree with your description of it as simple but complete! I find it a tad underrated nowadays.

[name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] is okay but I’ve never been a fan of how it sounds. The transition from the first syllable’s k to the second syllable’s l has always very abrupt to me - it’s almost like those sounds don’t naturally line up together, if that makes sense? Here, too, I think my experiences skew my perception of the name because while I can picture [name_u]Brooke[/name_u] on a variety of ages, [name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] to me will always sound like someone younger than me (I was born in 1995 and it hadn’t really taken off yet). It’s just so incredibly mid to late 2000s in my mind and I can’t really get past that honestly even though there’s nothing objectively wrong with the name.
