Thoughts on Caedmon?

I’ve loved [name_m]Caedmon[/name_m] for a long time, but I’ve always been hesitant to add it to my list since it’s kind of unusual. I hadn’t thought about it in awhile until I saw another baby name nerd talk about it in a recent Youtube video. Now I can’t get it out of my head. I think it’s so handsome and underused. I love that it has the nickname Caed/[name_u]Cade[/name_u] with it too.

What do you all think of [name_m]Caedmon[/name_m]? Is it usable? What middle names would you pair with it? You can go as traditional or as unusual as you like. Excited to hear your thoughts and read your middle name suggestions!

Anyone???

[name_m]How[/name_m] is it pronounced?? I think I’m pronouncing it wrong cuz it sounds like caveman to me a little

I love it. I think it’s really pretty but still very masculine, and I love that it has a history. I like it with some of the other names you’ve listed, too, and I like the sounds of [name_m]Caedmon[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u], [name_m]Caedmon[/name_m] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m], [name_m]Caedmon[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u], and [name_m]Caedmon[/name_m] [name_m]Dominic[/name_m] a lot. I think you would be able to find lots of names to complement it!

I thought a few based on some of your other choices:

[name_m]Caedmon[/name_m] [name_u]Finn[/name_u]
[name_m]Caedmon[/name_m] [name_m]Benedict[/name_m]
[name_m]Caedmon[/name_m] [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m]
[name_m]Caedmon[/name_m] [name_u]Noah[/name_u]
[name_m]Caedmon[/name_m] [name_m]Alistair[/name_m]

Great choice!

I don’t mind the ‘caed’ part but the ‘mon’ puts me off.

It reminds me of the trends Pokémon, Digimon, etc., but I’m not sure if I’m saying it right?

Wow! Very different opinions on this one. Keep them coming! [name_u]Love[/name_u] the suggestion of [name_m]Caedmon[/name_m] [name_m]Patrick[/name_m]. Very handsome!

[name_m]Just[/name_m] to clarify, I pronounce it like [name_u]Cade[/name_u]-mun. (I’m terrible with writing out pronunciations. lol)

Hey, stumbled across this post after searching for the name [name_m]Caedmon[/name_m]. I knew a total clown with this name, and the nickname Caed I didn’t like either. Also it does remind me of the word Caveman, I’m surprised someone else said that… ~ [name_m]Just[/name_m] my opinion on it. (I also pronounce it the same way.)

Although it sounds nothing like it, I immediately think of cardamom (the spice). I don’t know why though.

I think the Caed sound is a bit to close to more feminine names like [name_f]Kate[/name_f] or [name_f]Kayla[/name_f] for example for it to really fit on a boy well… but that is just my opinion.

I originally thought it was Cardamom so it’s better then that but not really much. For [name_u]Cade[/name_u] I’d rather [name_m]Caden[/name_m] then this.I feel it’s a bit much to wear in real life.

At first I thought I saw Condom. It uses a lot of the same letters! Now I’m trying to like this name, but I just can’t, for obvious reasons. I’m sorry if this seems crude, but it’s my honest opinion. :frowning:

[name_m]Caedmon[/name_m] is totally usable. It’s not my personal taste, but I’m not into Caed/[name_u]Cade[/name_u] or [name_m]Caden[/name_m] so naturally I’m not jumping for this one either. However, I would not bat an eye meeting a little [name_m]Caedmon[/name_m], and it would be nice to see. The poet Cædmon is a really cool namesake.
