Thoughts on Caide?

We are having such a hard time deciding on a name for our baby girl.

Our short list had several boy names that we liked for a girl and for a while we were leaning towards [name_m]Caiden[/name_m]. I was never 100% sold on it, I thought it sounded a lot like all the other aiden/jaden/hayden type names that are popular at the moment and I wanted something that felt more fresh.

I told a friend my reservations about the name and they suggested dropping the “n” and going with [name_m]Caide[/name_m] (would be pronounced like the boys version - kade). I think like it a lot more than [name_m]Caiden[/name_m] and my husband says he likes it either way.

Would love to hear some thoughts?

Its pretty, though i would have prefer it been spelled [name_u]Kade[/name_u].

I’ve never heard this name before. It reminds me more of a boy, which I love more boy names for a girl… however this one just doesn’t “do it” for me.
It feels incomplete for a girl and just too manly.
I prefer [name_m]Caiden[/name_m].

I would lavish [name_m]Caide[/name_m] with a double barrel to add just a touch more character and femininity to it!
Something still simple and sweet, perhaps?

[name_m]Caide[/name_m]-[name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_m]Caide[/name_m]-[name_f]Grace[/name_f]

I’m having trouble thinking of some, as it sounds better the other way to me, like:

[name_f]Anna[/name_f]-[name_m]Caide[/name_m]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]-[name_m]Caide[/name_m]
Etc.

Perhaps you can both like the name [name_f]Cadence[/name_f]? I think this sounds beautiful, unique and not too popular at the moment!

Or, [name_f]Acadia[/name_f], nickname [name_m]Caide[/name_m]? I don’t like this- but maybe you’s do?

[name_m]Caden[/name_m]-[name_f]Grace[/name_f] or [name_f]Cadence[/name_f] are my first choices.

[name_f]Cadence[/name_f] nn [name_u]Cade[/name_u].

Great on a boy only.

I’ve heard [name_u]Cade[/name_u] in various spellings frequently for boys, but not for girl. I think a girl would have a problem with the name being misheard as [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. I’d venture to guess that you would spend a good deal of the day every day correcting people. But if you’re okay with that, go for it.

I agree with the above poster–I think it would often be misheard as “[name_f]Kate[/name_f]/[name_f]Cate[/name_f].”

What about [name_f]Jade[/name_f]?

Thanks for the input everyone! Hmmm… maybe we’re back to [name_m]Caiden[/name_m]. Or back to some others on our short list :-?

My friend has a Cadelaine. She liked [name_f]Madelaine[/name_f] but not the nickname [name_f]Maddy[/name_f] and she like [name_u]Cade[/name_u] but wanted something longer. So she came up with a Cadelaine.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Cade[/name_u] and [name_m]Caden[/name_m] on a boy but i can’t see it on a girl. Maybe [name_f]Cadie[/name_f], nn [name_u]Cade[/name_u]?

It’s very masculine. [name_u]Cade[/name_u] Calvert is a male character in Gone with the Wind.

Possibly not your style, but [name_f]Leocadia[/name_f] and [name_f]Arcadia[/name_f] could also be shortened to “[name_u]Cade[/name_u]” or “[name_f]Cady[/name_f].” There’s also [name_f]Cascade[/name_f], or even Cicada.

[name_f]Cadence[/name_f], [name_f]Leocadia[/name_f], or [name_f]Arcadia[/name_f] with the nickname [name_u]Cade[/name_u] as suggested by previous posters.

There’s also [name_f]Acadia[/name_f] and Caderina.

No. [name_f]Cadence[/name_f] and [name_f]Acadia[/name_f] are really great though and [name_u]Cade[/name_u] could be a nickname for either.

I like [name_f]Cadence[/name_f] nn [name_u]Cade[/name_u] too!
