I’ve been loving [name]Cameo[/name] for a girl recently. I think it’s stunning, it has a vintage feel, and I could see it equally on a girly girl or a tomboy which is important to me. Plus I collect vintage brooches, and there’s a cameo brooch in my family that’s been passed down from mother to oldest daughter for over four generations (I’m next in line!), so it has personal connection. I like both nicknames [name]Cami[/name] and [name]Cam[/name].
My only worry is, do you think [name]Cameo[/name] is going to get trendy? Since it has the very in-style -o ending. Or on the flip side, is it too out there?
I would probably use a family name for a middle - [name]Judith[/name], [name]Florence[/name], [name]Marilyn[/name], [name]Rose[/name], and [name]Dawn[/name] are top contenders - but I’m open to suggestions! What’s your favorite [name]Cameo[/name] combo?
I highly doubt it’s going to become trendy. I don’t think it’s too out there - it’s not a made-up word, after all. But personally, I don’t like it at all for a name. In my mind it’s either a piece of jewelry or a random appearance by a celebrity in a b-list TV movie.
I actually stumbled on this name yesterday & thought it was quite stunning! I, too, love cameo style jewelry! I also like the nn’s Cam/Cami…Here is what I found on this name yesterday in a book:
Cameo, Cammeo = sculptured jewel.
It was under the ‘Italian’ section of the book, by the way. I know my Mom also likes it because the name was marked by her (I borrowed this book from her recently).
I would not worry about popularity too much if you love it. I do not see it hitting the tops anytime soon, and besides that, it has special meaning to YOU!
Honestly, I do not think any of the middles you proposed really go with Cameo except Rose…and I personally have a distaste for the name Rose.
I do think Cameo Fleur (both a ‘flower’ type name to honor Rose & also close to Florence) sounds lovely.
This was my thought too but it reminds me of brand names like [name]Bentley[/name] and [name]Chanel[/name] but I’m not sure why. The reason I dont care for it as a name is that it’s such a popular term in regards to TV and film and I think a lot of cameo’s are hokey. However the personal connection is nice and I don’t see this gaining in popularity so I think you’re safe if you decide to use it.
I think it sounds beautiful, and I would love to meet a [name]Cameo[/name], but I think it may be a name that might burden the child in the long run… certainly not a lot, but a bit.
My name is [name]Cameo[/name] (I’m 30), and I’ve only ever been happy with it! (And received all my family’s heirloom cameos by default!) Not a burden at all and I’ve never met another one. I get a lot of “Oh, what a pretty name!” I’d love to hear of a baby [name]Cameo[/name] (but hopefully not too many! )
I remember it was in the blog a while back, and I thought it was really pretty. The sound is nice, plus it brings a good picture to my head- I love [name]Cameo[/name] jewelry. Plus, for you, it has that personal touch. I think it is definitely usable, especially with the nn [name]Cam[/name].
I think [name]Cameo[/name] is adorable. I really like the idea of using it. I don’t think it will get too trendy, although it might pick up a little steam. Agree with pp, [name]Cameo[/name] [name]Fleur[/name] is a great combination.
[name]Cameo[/name] was on my list. My husband wouldn’t go for it though. I love [name]Cameo[/name] [name]Jade[/name] and [name]Cameo[/name] [name]Lace[/name] ([name]Jade[/name] and [name]Lace[/name] are my daughters names). [name]Cami[/name] is such a cute nick name too! [name]Love[/name] it!
[name]How[/name] cool that that is your name cl412bebe! Thanks for your thoughts on it, I still think it’s absolutely stunning and glad to know someone with the name who likes it (unlike a [name]Sadie[/name] I met recently, who hated her name).
I really don’t see how this name could be a ‘burden’ for anyone, even a little bit. Maybe I’m not as into TV culture as most people my age, but a TV/movie cameo is the last thing I think of when I hear the word and I can’t think of any other meaning to the word besides the jewelry, which I think is so beautiful. So I am really at a loss as to why this would be a burdening name for a child.
