Thoughts on Cerys?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like the name [name_f]Cerys[/name_f]? Does it go well with brother [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]?

I had [name_f]Cerys[/name_f] on my list years ago and forgot all about her. I don’t like [name_f]Carys[/name_f], but love [name_f]Cerys[/name_f]. Funny how one letter changed makes all the difference! Pronounced KEH-riss. I feel like it matches my name, [name_f]Eryn[/name_f], really well. Sibsets that match, or don’t match, doesn’t really matter to me, but always nice to know others’ thoughts.

Thank you :slightly_smiling_face:

Thank you all! Back on my list she goes

Cerys is lovely and fits well with [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]! as long as you wouldn’t get really annoyed if some people got mixed up and called her [name_f]Carys[/name_f], it sounds like a perfect choice!

Cerys is really pretty! It does go well with [name_m]Rueben[/name_m] as a sibling and would be a nice nod to your name, as it shares the “ery” with [name_f]Eryn[/name_f]. I personally prefer [name_f]Carys[/name_f], but I think the [name_f]Cerys[/name_f] spelling makes perfect sense for you!

For accent/familiarity/pronunciation context, I’m Canadian. I know that this is wrong but to my eye/ear, [name_f]Cerys[/name_f] looks like it should be pronounced with the soft C (SAIR-iss), and since I’m a great big nerd about names, I imagine that out in the world (at least in [name_u]North[/name_u] [name_u]America[/name_u]) [name_f]Cerys[/name_f] would be misspelled and mispronounced constantly. [name_f]Carys[/name_f] would stand a better chance, though I know you don’t like it. Both names are absolutely lovely and if you live someplace where [name_f]Cerys[/name_f] would likely be pronounced correctly most of the time, I do think it’s a great choice, on its own and with [name_m]Reuben[/name_m].

@oregano7 I am in the UK and it is pronounced just as I want it here. No issues with spelling or pronunciation, [name_f]Cerys[/name_f] is just as familiar to us as is [name_f]Carys[/name_f]. Thankfully!
