Been watching a lot of Glee and I like Chord Overstreet.
Is this name too out there?
It appears feminized from [name]Cord[/name].
I like Chord. I have taken piano off and on since I was five, and I still love it. I love the idea of incorporating music into someone’s name, and I find Chord really wearable, actually (with the exception of possibly being too tied to Chord Overstreet!). There’s a little boy in my church named [name]Cordell[/name]–I think you could probably get away with [name]Cordell[/name] (or another [name]Cord[/name]- name) with the nn Chord. I think [name]Cordelia[/name] nn Chord might be pretty amazing, too, although I’m guessing you prefer Chord on a boy…
Sorry, but I think it’s awful. I get the feeling most people would imagine it spelled as [name]Cord[/name] when they heard it. It works about as well as a name as would Note, Rest, [name]Beat[/name], or [name]Bar[/name]… not very nice sounding at all.
I like it, but it’s very tied to Chord Overstreet, and I like ashthedreamer’s suggestion of [name]Cordell[/name] with the nn Chord.
I adore [name]Cord[/name] since reading a western novel with a character with the name. I don’t like the Chord spelling. I also think [name]Cordell[/name] is a great name.
Chord reminds me of many things…musical chord, spinal cord, a hangman’s rope, corduroy pants, something a child can have a terrible accident with causing strangulation…no, I’m not getting the attraction. It doesn’t have a pleasant sound either. I would advise you to keep looking.
I think it sounds really handsome. It’s weird that it’s spelled the same as a musical chord though. I think I like [name]Cord[/name] better, even though it has many associations of it’s own, at least they are varied so it doesn’t make me think of one thing. [name]Cord[/name]/Chord as a nickname is a great idea, though I wish I liked [name]Cordell[/name] more.
This pretty much describes what I was thinking!
I like Chord! I love the musical reference:)
I love it and would totally use it but unfort I know someone who ruined it for us
While I like Chord Overstreet as well I’ve always thought Chord was ridiculous as a name, It’s like cord, to me it seems the same as naming your kid rope, twine, yarn or string.
I am not a fan at all, sorry
I like Chord & especially the musical connection. I had never heard of Chord Overstreet until reading these comments.
Wow I’m surprised by all the negativity, I think Chord hits that sweet spot between uncommon and familiar. It has a strong masculine feel as well as a western vibe to it. And with all those other musical names like [name]Cadence[/name] and [name]Aria[/name] becoming more popular I think it’s right on trend.
And personally I don’t think Chord Overstreet is that big of a star for it to be a ‘one person name’ like [name]Cher[/name] or [name]Madonna[/name]
Thanks for saving me the effort. ![]()
