I think Cielle is very chic; I love the way it sounds. I think it walks very close to the line of being too similar to Elise – “el-ees” & “see-el” same sounds in a different order. I totally see the appeal though and feel the struggle of being drawn to certain sounds!
I like it! [name_f]My[/name_f] only observation is that it sounds like the letters C-L but thats not a bad thing. Definitely prefer Cielle for a girl over [name_u]Ciel[/name_u]
so ciel is a [name_u]French[/name_u] word, it’s the french word for “sky,” as you noted. it’s not used as a name in [name_u]France[/name_u]. I do prefer the simpler [name_u]Ciel[/name_u] spelling. since it’s not a [name_u]French[/name_u] name, I don’t think the feminization is necessary.
Cielle is quite nice - I do prefer [name_u]Ciel[/name_u], but Cielle looks more cohesive with [name_u]Miles[/name_u] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f]? I do think [name_u]Celeste[/name_u], [name_f]Celine[/name_f] or [name_f]Celia[/name_f] though for names with similar meanings and with M and E
It does have quite a nice sound? I tend to prefer established names rather than more recent creations though, my first thought was “shouldn’t that just be Celia?”
Another thing to possibly consider is that it sort of like just saying the initials CL?
But yes, looks like an elegant name and has a nice sound.
If you want a [name_u]French[/name_u] name you could use [name_u]Celeste[/name_u] (from the sky)
[name_u]Ciel[/name_u] isn’t considered a name in [name_u]French[/name_u] and Cielle isn’t even a word. It doesn’t mean you can’t use it if you like it though, I’m just mentioning this because you said you had a [name_u]French[/name_u] name theme for your girls.
I don’t love the mispronounced faux french word, it doesn’t really feel natural next to [name_f]Elise[/name_f] either. Perhaps [name_f]Cecile[/name_f] “seh-seel” as a similar sounding properly french name?
[name_u]Ciel[/name_u] does mean sky in french but it’s not used as a name in [name_u]France[/name_u] or in other french speaking countries. Not like [name_u]Sky[/name_u] is used as a name elsewhere in the world. Having said that I think it sounds beautiful and maybe in a place where french isn’t the main language it would be okay to use it.
Here are some synonyms in french for the word ciel:
Éden, [name_f]Air[/name_f], Allégresse, Élysée, Éther, Atmosphère, [name_m]Azur[/name_m], Béatitude, Baldaquin, [name_u]Bleu[/name_u], [name_u]Céleste[/name_u] séjour, Champs-élysées, Cieux, [name_m]Cosmos[/name_m], Coupole, Dais, Dôme, [name_f]Félicité[/name_f], Là-haut, [name_u]Oasis[/name_u], [name_f]Olympe[/name_f], Paradis, Univers, Voûte céleste
So maybe [name_u]Celeste[/name_u] could be a good option? Maybe if her middle starts with L (or even her last name) her initials could be CL and therefore [name_u]Ciel[/name_u] could be used as a nickname also [name_u]Ciel[/name_u] could be a (strechy) nickname even for [name_u]Celeste[/name_u]
I’m not keen (it was always going to be a bit divisive), it feels insubstantial next to [name_u]Miles[/name_u] and [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. Very pretty meaning though. It’s clear what sounds you’re attracted to.
