I half-heartedly suggested [name]Constance[/name] to DH the other day, and he has really fallen hard for it! What are your thoughts?
BTW, I just can’t do nn [name]Connie[/name]. It’s way too dated for my taste. Is it inevitable anyway?

I love it but I would only use it in the middle name spot personally. I would love to see it in the first name spot though.
Wow, this was one of my favorite names as a child and I’d forgotten all about it!
I really did love [name]Constance[/name], strong and solid sounding. [name]Connie[/name] could be an issue though as its a lot of name to hold to full name only. I need to think more on it but thanks for posting about this old favorite!
I love [name]Constance[/name] and I don’t think it needs a nn!
I like it too (though I like [name]Temperance[/name] better) and I don’t think it needs a nn either. I don’t think [name]Connie[/name] is inevitable but I think it will be hard to avoid. You could try Cona, Conta, Stanzi (apparently Mozarts wifes nickname), [name]Nance[/name], [name]Nancy[/name], [name]Tansy[/name], Stannie, [name]Annie[/name], Cece…some of those are a stretch but they could work
This was one of my favorite names when I was younger- it sounds so strong and still soft! It doesn’t work with my last name, or it would still be on my list!
I don’t think [name]Constance[/name] needs a nickname- and, I don’t think any nickname is inevitable. I know plenty of Susans that are never [name]Sue[/name] and Catherines that are never [name]Cathy[/name] or [name]Kate[/name]. Depending on what her middle name is, that could play into it, too. I knew a girl named [name]Cassandra[/name] who didn’t like the nickname [name]Cassie[/name]- she went by CG because those were her first and middle initials. I always thought that was a cute nickname.
I am not a fan of virtue names, but I’ve liked [name]Constance[/name] since I was little. I actually like [name]Connie[/name] though!
I personally avoid any name with an obvious nn that I can’t stand. I just don’t want to correct people for a dozen or so years only to have my kid take to the nickname I hated all that time!
I think [name]Constance[/name], Consetta & [name]Constantine[/name] are all strong names.
I think Costia would be the Russian nn for all of the above. Maybe you would like that?
Thanks all! I really like the suggestion of Cece for a nn, (if a nn is absolutely necessary.) I might spell it differently though.
Oooo, just thought of [name]Coco[/name] for a nn too. I like that one!
I actually like [name]Constance[/name] a lot. It is a name on my list for a future daughter. [name]Coco[/name] is cute and that was a nn that I saw online. I think it is a cute choice. Most virtue names are dated but [name]Constance[/name] is one of the ones that is classic in my opinion.
I like the name [name]Constance[/name]. But I [name]LOVE[/name] the nn [name]Connie[/name]. I’ve considered the name because of the Adventures in Odyssey character. It’s a beautiful name.
I have a good friend named [name]Constance[/name]. She’s 20 now - her parents were ahead of the game on the vintage name front! I’ve never heard her called [name]Connie[/name] in the seven years I’ve known her. We call her “[name]Con[/name]” or “Cosi” for short, but generally it’s just [name]Constance[/name]. It’s a great name - strong, vintage, sophisticated.
[name]One[/name] of my friends is named [name]Constance[/name], nn [name]Connie[/name], and she’s 26, so that makes the nn seem less dated to me.
I actually REALLY like [name]Constance[/name], but could never think of a decent nickname. I guess I was in your boat, lol. I really liked the suggestions of [name]Tansy[/name] and Cece, then your [name]Coco[/name]. Those are really cute.
