This week I was looking to update my boys list and I found [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]. I really love the way it sounds, and the meaning of “throne” is really cool. It took me a minute before I realized “Crap- [name_f]Miley[/name_f] [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]”. That isn’t really an association I would want connected to my child. Now I’m torn- do you think it’s still usable? Would you use it? What other names (besides [name_m]Silas[/name_m]) sound similar and have good meanings? Any other thoughts on [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m]?
I like it. I like the sound of it when you say it. An alternative could be [name_m]Cyril[/name_m]
Oh I like that too, the Italian variation [name_m]Ciro[/name_m] is really nice too.
Also forgot to ask- [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think nn Rus makes [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] more usable?
I think [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] is a great name and I didn’t even think of [name_f]Miley[/name_f] [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] until you mentioned it. I think the name is has enough history and is used enough that [name_f]Miley[/name_f] [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] isn’t the first thought or only association. I think Rus works well as a nickname, but I also think it’s totally usable without it!
I think [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] is totally usable. [name_f]Miley[/name_f] is the only name I would immediately associate with [name_f]Miley[/name_f] [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m].
If you’re still apprehensive, how about [name_m]Darius[/name_m]? Like [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m], it has a Persian origin and the same -us ending.
[name_m]Darius[/name_m] would be a really good alternative, unfortunately my family has a very negative association to this name. I am feeling more confident about [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] now that I know it isn’t as connected to [name_f]Miley[/name_f] as I thought.
