We really love the name [name_u]Dexter[/name_u]. We just can’t commit to it. What is your first impression with this name?
My son goes to nursery with two boys called [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] so I am quite familiar with the name in daily life. I think it’s quite charming! It’s a name that will suit a little one as well as an adult.
It is quirky but usable. I think of the TV show about the murderer (I didn’t see it but it’s a strong association since the name is unusual) or of Poindexter/a nerdy guy. But as it becomes more popular those could weaken.
I like it and love the nn [name_m]Dex[/name_m].
I think the name [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] is very cute. If you wanted something similar, [name_m]Daxton[/name_m] ‘[name_m]Dax[/name_m]’ would be cute also.
My only issue with [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] is that it doesn’t feel versatile. I can imagine [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] as a [name_u]West[/name_u] Coast hipster or an ultra nerd, but it feels awkward on anyone in between.
I really like the name [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] but I like it even it more in a British accent!”
My soon to be 1 year old is [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] so we love it obviously. We get only good comments on his name. We call him [name_m]Dex[/name_m], Dexi and DJ (his initials) and my elder son sometimes calls him big D …which is from one of the [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] films in which [name_m]Harry[/name_m]'s cousin [name_m]Dudley[/name_m] is called big D by one of his gang
It’s cute! Some may say it sounds kind of ‘nerdy’, but the nickname [name_m]Dex[/name_m] sounds pretty cool in my opinion! First thing that comes to mind is [name_u]Dexter[/name_u]'s Laboratory but I doubt any kids that will be born now will know anything about that cartoon so it’s fine! Im friends with this guy called [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] that calls himself Deeter as a nickname (from d-ter) because he doesnt feel like his original name suits him, so if he dislikes [name_u]Dexter[/name_u] he could ask his friends to call him that maybe
I love [name_u]Dexter[/name_u]! It’s actually pretty popular here in the UK (#50 or so) and I think it’s a really cute, geek-chic kind of a name for a little kid but it really grows up and works for a teenager and adult too. I say go for it!
I like it!
