What are your opinions on this name? I first discovered in a book by [name_f]Kiera[/name_f] [name_u]Cass[/name_u] and fell in love with it. I personally prefer the spelling Eadlyn because it looks more complete to me and it’s the first spelling I’ve ever seen of this name. Unfortunately, that spelling is not in the Nameberry database, while [name_f]Edlyn[/name_f] is.
Also, do you prefer the spelling [name_f]Eadie[/name_f] or [name_f]Eady[/name_f] for nickname?
[name_f]TIA[/name_f]!
I dont like the “edl” sound, it sounds weird
Have you considered Edelyn? [name_m]Edel[/name_m] is a real name and I like the classy sound of Edelyn much more
I prefer [name_f]Eadie[/name_f] because [name_f]Eady[/name_f] is too much like ready
nn [name_f]Elyn[/name_f] ([name_f]Elin[/name_f]) is cute too
If you want the eed-lyn pronunciation, I would spell it Eadlyn. [name_f]Edlyn[/name_f] looks like it could be pronounced ed-lyn. It does sound a bit made-up though, and sounds a lot like [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] which is much more popular which could be confusing. What about [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] (eev-lin or ev-uh-lin), [name_f]Elin[/name_f] (ee-lin) or [name_f]Edie[/name_f] (ee-dee), which are all established names, instead?
I first ran across the name [name_f]Edlyn[/name_f] by someone who thought they’d made it up! That person was pronuouncing it [name_m]Edd[/name_m] lin tho. I quite like it, its always been a funny little guilty pleasure in the back of my mind! I do prefer the [name_m]Edd[/name_m] lin pronunciation (is it legit?) but if you want Eed lin, I’d say go for Eadlyn. [name_f]Eadie[/name_f] (this spelling, looks more complete) is a cute nickname!
I like the suggestion of the Edelyn spelling. I think that looks the best. If I saw [name_f]Edlyn[/name_f] I would think it was pronounced like ed-lyn rather than with a long e sound.
I prefer the Eadlyn spelling, nickname [name_f]Edie[/name_f].
