Thoughts on Eleanor?

My husband and I are having the hardest time agreeing on a name for our little lady. Right now we are leaning towards [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. I quite like it, but I don’t want to feel like we are settling because we haven’t found anything we can agree on that we like better. Middle name would likely be [name_u]Penny[/name_u] (my late mom’s name) unless we found something we loved more.

We tend to like longer names with nickname potential, nothing trendeigh, or yooneek. We like spunky or different middles.

All suggestions are welcome!!

I think Eleanor is very lovely, she’d be higher on my list if Elliott wasn’t my #1 boys name. I think she’s elegant, sophisticated but still fun and interesting. Ellie and Nora are both lovely nicknames.

I suppose you already talked about [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] nn [name_u]Penny[/name_u]?!

There are so many lovely names (those are the usual suggestions):

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is classic and feminine, it makes me think of a refined, graceful woman, someone who strives to achieve.

Some names that seem to have the same qualities to me:
[name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Christine[/name_f]
[name_f]Laura[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anna[/name_f]
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f]
[name_f]Victoria[/name_f]
[name_f]Josephine[/name_f]
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] a lot! It’s on my list in a couple different places. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_u]Penny[/name_u] is great. I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] for the versatility in nicknames, as well–[name_f]Ella[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Leni[/name_f], [name_f]Nell/name_f, [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_u]Norrie[/name_u], [name_f]Lea[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Eleni[/name_f], [name_u]Laney[/name_u], even [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] or [name_f]Elora[/name_f]/[name_f]Lora[/name_f]/[name_f]Laure[/name_f]…

Good luck!

I’m an [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], and I do really love my name, but I’d advise keeping away from [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] or [name_f]Ella[/name_f] as a nn, just because it is so popular. I was one of four Ellies in my year at school, and I think that ‘[name_f]El[/name_f]’ names, and therefore the nn [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], are becoming more and more popular every year. However, there are loads of pretty alternatives, like [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Nell[/name_f], even [name_f]Lena[/name_f]. Still, I think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_u]Penny[/name_u] (or [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], as suggested by others) is really lovely.

Not a fan of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] at all. [name_u]Penny[/name_u] is a nice middle name I think though.
[name_f]Emmaline[/name_f] [name_u]Penny[/name_u]
Emberlyn [name_u]Penny[/name_u]
[name_f]Estrella[/name_f] [name_u]Penny[/name_u]

[name_f]Everleigh[/name_f] [name_u]Penny[/name_u]
Evianna [name_u]Penny[/name_u]

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]'s a lovely name, very classic and classy. And there’s a variety of nn’s for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] too!

I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. It manages to be medieval, Victorian, and contemporary all at once. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_u]Penny[/name_u] is nice, and i agree with ellieh, try to find a nn other than [name_f]Ella[/name_f] or [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]!

I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]'s history. I always think of Mrs. [name_m]Roosevelt[/name_m], First Lady.

[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] would be such a cute nn.

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is one of my favorite names. I think she’s an absolute classic but not boring or overly expected at all. She lends great nicknames like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f], too! I think [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_u]Penny[/name_u] is beautiful!

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] seems so stuffy to me. It’s too formal. I am sure that most [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]'s go by [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], and all [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] names are so popular. Variations of [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] are more appealing to me. [name_f]Helen[/name_f], [name_f]Helena[/name_f], [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], [name_f]Elena[/name_f], [name_f]Nora[/name_f], [name_f]Lenore[/name_f]
For a classic [name_f]El[/name_f] name, I like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and all it’s nicknames a lot more.

I really love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]!! But paired with [name_u]Penny[/name_u], I think she’s a Beatles baby- [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_m]Rigby[/name_m] and [name_u]Penny[/name_u] [name_u]Lane[/name_u]. Which is great if you’re Beatles fans, especially. I dont know, something to think about. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Penelope[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]…
