Thoughts on Elin?

The name [name_f]Elin[/name_f] is really starting to grow on me! I think it’s charming and feminine, and I think it would age very well. Unfortunately, I have some reservations about whether or not it could work in the real world. Would most people think it was a misspelling of [name_f]Ellen[/name_f]? Or are people generally familiar with the name? I’m hoping [name_f]Elin[/name_f] Nordegren is more well-known than I thought.

What are your thoughts on [name_f]Elin[/name_f]? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like it? Is is usable? Any suggestions for a middle or two?

Thanks in advance!

[name_f]Elin[/name_f] is a great name, it feels fresh and a bit sassy. I imagine a charming, personable girl who gets along with everyone. I do know how to pronounce it because of [name_f]Elin[/name_f] Nordegren, haha. But even if people pronounce it like [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] at first, it’s pretty easy to correct.

I had a little girl in my class last year named [name_f]Elin[/name_f]. No one ever had difficulty pronouncing her name. She was a sweetie pie (her twin sister was called [name_f]Jana[/name_f]). As a pp said, even if people call her [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] that’s easily corrected!

It’s adorable, I say use it!

My mother’s name is [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], and while to me it makes me think of a postmenopausal woman instead of a rosy cheeked baby girl, I think it is actually a lovely name. I think it will eventually return as popular, or so I hope.

I think [name_f]Elin[/name_f] is a unique but classic name, and a fresh take on a seemingly outdated name. I say definitely use it!

Thank you so much for your responses! I’m so glad to see positive feedback! You’re right, it’s a quick correction from [name_f]Ellen[/name_f] to [name_f]Elin[/name_f]. I’ll stop worrying about it.

I should clarify that I am collecting names for the future, and I am not currently TTC or pregnant.

I love the sibset of [name_f]Elin[/name_f] and [name_f]Jana[/name_f]! Any suggestions for a middle name for [name_f]Elin[/name_f]? I’m open to anything!

Thank you, I really like [name_f]Elin[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and [name_f]Elin[/name_f] [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]! Any other suggestions?

I love [name_f]Elin[/name_f]. Before I got my heart stolen by my current top pick, a baby girl would have been [name_f]Mathilda[/name_f] [name_f]Elin[/name_f], so I agree [name_f]Elin[/name_f] [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] is a beautiful combo! I nannied for a baby [name_f]Elin[/name_f] and I never had to correct the pronunciation more than once, and many people got it right away, so yeah, don’t worry about the pronunciation or general familiarity.
