Thoughts on Elizabette?

Elizabette is one of the few names on DH’s short list that I can somewhat see us using, but I’m still not that sure. It would most likely be a middle name.
I’m wondering what your thoughts/opinions are on it? [name_m]How[/name_m] do you assume it’s pronounced when you see it? What do you think about it as a middle/first name, or any first/middle combo suggestions?

I’d pronounce it E-liz-a-bet… i don’t care for this name at all. It sounds like someone trying to pronounce [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] but is either uneducated or can’t say the -th ending. I much prefer [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]…

I would just assume it was an alternative spelling of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and would pronounce it just the same. Not the biggest fan, I must say. I much prefer just [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

Dislike, sorry. I say stick with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f].

I love the name, but not that spelling. I would pronounce it eh-liz-uh-[name_f]BET[/name_f]. Have you considered the spelling [name_f]Elisabet[/name_f]? It’s trimmed-down and feels more elegant.

I heavily disagree with both these comments and I don’t entirely appreciate the “uneducated” comment…
In Europe, “th” is not a sound that typically exists, [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]/[name_f]Elisabet[/name_f] is a common and gorgeous name there, just because it’s not typical in English doesn’t make it uneducated or someone has pronunciation issues. I don’t favour spelling it Elizabette, I much prefer [name_f]Elisabet[/name_f]. My family are from Germany and it’s a name I have considered often, but I know it’d be butchered in Australia.

I prefer the spelling [name_f]Elisabet[/name_f] and the original [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] (or [name_f]Elisabeth[/name_f]) over that. I don’t know what to make of the pronunciation.

I say it eliza-BIT (the first part sounding just like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], not like the name [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]). I’m not too fond of it. It reminds me of [name_f]Elizabella[/name_f]…a bit fussy and needlessly complicated. It’s awkward to say…I think using [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or a different -ette name could be a good solution.

I prefer the [name_f]Elisabet[/name_f] spelling, or [name_f]Elizabet[/name_f].

I don’t think it sounds “uneducated” because as was previously pointed out, not every language pronounces the “th” the way English does.

I would pronounce it [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]-bet. I prefer the Italian [name_f]Elizabetta[/name_f].
