I think it sounds slightly dated, but not so much so that it can’t work nowadays! It might actually be quite fresh to hear on a baby today. Elena and Eleni are more trendy options - and Helen might be a bit more classic so slightly less dated, but Ellen is a solid choice!
[name_f]My[/name_f] first thought was Degeneres, but after that I figured it’s a pretty cute name! I can see it on a little one. It’s not so tied to a particular era, IMO.

No, it’s a nice name. I’ve taught only one in 35 years and I’ve only known one adult woman with that name too. I love [name_f]Lena[/name_f] as a nn.
I don’t think it’s too dated to be used, but I’m personally not a huge fan. I much prefer [name_f]Ella[/name_f] or [name_f]Helen[/name_f].
