Seeking feedback on the name [name_f]Elodie[/name_f].
It’s the only girls name, so far, that hubby and I agree on.
I love that it’s a little bit different, is still easy to spell and has the potential for good nicknames. I am worried though that i’m setting myself (and baby) up for a lifetime of correcting people ([name_f]Elodie[/name_f], not [name_f]Melody[/name_f]).
Considering [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] or [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] as name combos.
I think [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] is very pretty and I don’t think it will need correcting - I think it is now more popular than [name_f]Melody[/name_f] anyway. According to Name [name_u]Berry[/name_u]:
Nameberry 63rd in 2017
[name_f]England[/name_f] 166th in 2016
I agree that [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] sound too similar - with the [name_f]El[/name_f]- start and -e ending. [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] sounds very sweet.
I think [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] is sweet and appealing. I know a young one whose parents have found that it was more unusual than they expected to other people, but they’ve generally had a very positive reaction to it anyway. They don’t regret using it at all despite it not being well known, as it completely suits their lively singing and dancing little girl!
I rather like the alliteration of [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] - this really works I think. [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is also good.
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] is sweet. I met one and she was the spunkiest redhead I’ve ever met.
I like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] is too similar to my ear. Maybe [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Annelise[/name_f]?
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] is one of my favourites. I love the flow and the lyrical, but bubbly feel it has to it. I’ve only met one and no one seemed to call her [name_f]Melody[/name_f].
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] is my favourite
I’ve always liked the sound of [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], and I don’t think it would get confused with [name_f]Melody[/name_f] very often. My only thing is that [name_f]IMO[/name_f] I don’t think [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] ages very well, as I can only picture young girls with the name.
I love [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], but I think [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] kind of runs together. Like “Ello Delice”. Thumbs up on [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f], though.
I love [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]! It has a beautiful sound, and is unique enough I believe to stand up against [name_f]Melody[/name_f]. [name_m]French[/name_m] singer Élodie Frégé is a great example of a “grown-up” who wears the name well.
I also think that the alliteration of [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Elise[/name_f] might be a little much. [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] and [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] are both great options.
