Thoughts on Eloise

What do you think of [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]? I used to not care for it, but now I’m loving it!
By the way, what are your thoughts on [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Orphea[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f]? Open to other combo suggestions too!

Edit: Taking in suggestions from eleanore3, eileithyia and LynnG by changing it to Eloise Orphea Maude :).

I think [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is a wonderful name! It’s so posh and dainty and all around a delicate name. [name_f]Orphea[/name_f] in my opinion is not too ideal. It sounds like “orphan” and also I think later in life she won’t appeal to the name very much. [name_f]Maud[/name_f] literally sounds like “mod” and when you think of it like that it’s not as pleasant. [name_f]Maud[/name_f] is usually spelled with an e at the end ([name_f]Maude[/name_f]) but even though it’s beautiful to look at, it’s not as pretty when said aloud. I think a nature name would go well with [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] like a flower (but not a common one like [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Lily[/name_f]). I’m loving [name_f]Dawn[/name_f] [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Dawn[/name_f] has the same sound as [name_f]Maud[/name_f], These are just my opinions, please do anything to your liking for [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]’s name

@Amanda_Joy Thank youu :white_heart:!!

@eleanore3 Thank you for sharing your thoughts! I rather like the idea of [name_f]Dawn[/name_f], but as a middle. [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Dawn[/name_f] sounds sweet!

I personally feel the name is a bit bland to me now, if you asked me two years ago, I’d be in love with [name_f]Eloise[/name_f], though I do like [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f]. And I do like [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Orphea[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f]

I think it’s a really sweet name! It has always reminded me a lot of [name_u]Louise[/name_u], probably for the very similar letters.

Eloise [name_f]Orphea[/name_f] [name_f]Maud[/name_f] is really sweet! I’m not a massive fan of [name_f]Maud[/name_f] but it works really well in this combo, and makes the name feel more complete, although I do prefer the spelling [name_f]Maude[/name_f]! [name_f]Orphea[/name_f] is a name I don’t hear very often, but it reminds me of [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] or [name_f]Ophira[/name_f]/Ofira. Those would sound really lovely with [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] too.

I’m not too good at making combos with three names, but I’ll give some suggestions with two. All of these could have [name_f]Orphea[/name_f] or [name_f]Maud[/name_f] added to them.

Eloise [name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Delaney[/name_u]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Katya[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Octavia[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Romilly[/name_u]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Severine[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Xochitl[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Zuelia[/name_f]

I prefer the more straightfwd Elyse.

I don’t love the 3 name combo… And unfortunately agree with the person who said Orphea sounds like Orphan. I also think of Orpheus from the movie, the Matrix, which isn’t a very impressive association, tbh.

  • Eloise Mabel
  • Eloise Marcie
  • Elyse Madelyn
  • Elyse Maisel
  • Elyse Jocelyn
  • Eloise Josephine
  • Eloise Olivia
  • Eloise Octavia
  • Eloise Olympia
  • Eloise Odette
  • Eloise Laeticia
  • Elyse Marceline

Most of these names could be easily combined with the other, IMO.

I agree with the poster who said Maud (Maude) is nice to look at, but the sound really is,not pleasant to the ear. I’ll add that, if you’re going to go French names with FN and MN, they should probably both be spelled consistently with the correctly per French phonetics (Maude vs Maud).

Also, this may be the linguist in me, but something about there being an O or an O sound in each of the 3 names (elOise Orphea mAUde) but all of them spelled/pronounced differently … Stands out. At least to me.

Eloise is gorgeous and a name I pondered on for my daughter there was an association that my daughter’s father couldn’t get over which prevented me from using [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] but still clearly I completely see the appeal in this name. [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] is fresh has a beautiful summery vibe which overall makes the name feel happy. [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] has the sweet nickname [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] which is great so yep lovely name. I think [name_f]Orphea[/name_f] sounds really interesting in the middle name slot completely unexpected and cool. I think [name_f]Maud[/name_f] even though not a favourite rounds the name off nicely providing a vintage flair. Overall great name!

A very big thank you to everyone for voicing your thoughts!
@Strawberry.Bunny [name_f]Eloisa[/name_f] is gorgeous! Adding it to my list :white_heart:

@kasatka Oh, I’m absolutely saving [name_f]Ophira[/name_f]/Ofira for future use! Loving the suggestions, especially [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Severine[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Octavia[/name_f] and [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_u]Romilly[/name_u] :purple_heart:!

@LynnG Hmm… I’m starting to note the Orphan connection too. [name_f]Elyse[/name_f] Maisel is very pretty! I usually prefer [name_f]Maude[/name_f] to [name_f]Maud[/name_f] too, but then there’s something about the whole combo in small caps that got me thinking that [name_f]Maude[/name_f] is one letter too long . But after reading all your suggestions… [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] [name_f]Orphea[/name_f] [name_f]Maude[/name_f] might do the trick :).

@tori101 Yes, [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] just makes me smile for some reason and I do find [name_f]Orphea[/name_f] kinda cool and offbeat ;)!

@futuremama Agreed! And again, thank you :yellow_heart:!
