I am liking the names [name]Emile[/name] and [name]Caspar[/name] at the minute and would like some honest feedback on these names please. I won’t be offended if you feel negatively about the names, I really just want to gain some insight into what people think when they hear these names.
I am just wondering if they appear too feminine? I am also wondering if they are usuable and wearable and what impression these names give.
[name]Emile[/name] is nice. I like it because it’s a “real” name, if you know what I mean, like I’ve heard it before and know it exists. Yet I don’t know anyone called [name]Emile[/name] and have never met an [name]Emile[/name] so really stands out but definitely not in a negative way!
[name]Caspar[/name] or [name]Casper[/name] I just cannot get out of my head [name]Casper[/name] the friendly ghost (hoping you know what that is now!! - if not, it’s a programme, kids cartoon) and for that reason I cannot imagine it for a person which is a shame!
[name]Emile[/name] is nice, but (and without much reasoning), I don’t love it. [name]Just[/name] not a personal preference.
I think [name]Caspar[/name] is great on the other hand. (I prefer the spelling [name]Casper[/name], but am not too fussed). I suppose being in Australia, the ghost aspect doesn’t resonate so strongly with me. However if the friendly ghost turns you off it, you could consider – [name]Jasper[/name], [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Carter[/name], [name]Cooper[/name] or [name]Crispin[/name] as similar sounding names.
I like [name]Emile[/name]! I prefer the [name]Emil[/name] spelling, personally, but both are really nice. I used to have [name]Joseph[/name] [name]Emil[/name] on my list, and if I still used [name]Joseph[/name] as a FN, that would probably be my combo. I think [name]Emil/name does come across as a bit feminine, so I would probably use it in the MN spot.
[name]Caspar[/name] I love. I also love that it’s the French spelling! [name]Casper[/name] (and by default, [name]Jasper[/name]! I always want to spell it [name]Jaspar[/name], lol) always looked misspelled to me. I had a very good friend who had considered [name]Caspar[/name] for her triplets who were born in 2010… She ended up having only one boy, so she didn’t use it, but it is a lovely name. I like it much more than [name]Jasper[/name], personally. It just seems warmer and more friendly.
I love both of them! I’m never sure exactly how to pronounce [name]Emile[/name] (feel free to help me out anyone who might know :]) but I love the look of it. [name]Caspar[/name] is wonderful, I think it’s totally ready to take back its identity from the friendly ghost.
I love both, and consider both to be usable and wearable. I would use either myself, particularly [name]Caspar[/name]. I can never decide if I prefer the [name]Emil[/name] or the [name]Emile[/name] spelling.
I like [name]Emile[/name], but I am afraid with all the trendy spellings out there, someone might mistake it for [name]Emily[/name] [name]Caspar[/name] is nice and I think it is slowly loosing the ghost associations
I think [name]Emile[/name] is nice, and [name]Caspar[/name] is “eh” for me–still too associated with the ghost. [name]Just[/name] to offer a different perspective, [name]Emile[/name] is the name of a famous philosophical tract by [name]Jean[/name]-[name]Jacques[/name] [name]Rousseau[/name] about how to educate a child. [name]Emile[/name] is the name he gives to his fictional pupil in the book. Seeing as I study [name]Rousseau[/name], I would never use this name because al of the other dorks out there would think I named my kid after a philosopher.
I immediately think of [name]Emile[/name] [name]Hirsch[/name] when I see the name, because he’s the only person I’ve ever heard of with that name, I’d never heard of it before the first time I saw him in a movie. he’s a great (and nice-looking!) actor, for whatever that’s worth.
however, I agree that he’d probably have to spend much of his life explaining that his name is not [name]Emily[/name]. :?
as for [name]Caspar[/name]/[name]Casper[/name]… yeah, same here, my brain goes right to “the friendly ghost” so I personally would never consider it.
I love [name]Caspar[/name], and [name]Cas[/name] as a potential nickname. I wouldn’t worry about the friendly ghost, but as others have said, if it bugs you, there’s always [name]Jasper[/name]. It absolutely doesn’t sound feminine. If I met a female [name]Caspar[/name], I’d be confused.
As for [name]Emile[/name]… I just don’t care for “em” names in general. I know too many people (mostly female) with names like [name]Emily[/name], [name]Emilia[/name], [name]Emma[/name], etc. So given the sheer volume of people with some form of “em” name and vast number of similar female names, I don’t find it appealing.
Honestly, I utterly adore both but my SO has vetoed them. I would use either in a heartbeat. I think they both have an intelligent, smart, handsome, and slightly artsy feel to them. I would be really excited to meet a little boy with either name!
I have a 6 year old nephew named [name]Emile[/name], pronounced '[name]EM[/name]-Meal." He wears it fine. Some mispronounce it as [name]Emily[/name]. I think my brother could have chosen a better name. Like [name]Emile[/name], [name]Casper[/name] is in the same ‘i want my child to be original’ niche. Problem is, that name is for the captain of the chess team.
I think [name]Emile[/name] will constantly get called “[name]Emily[/name]” by all those ignorant people out there…and again “casper” the friendly ghost.
Embrace the dork. [name]Bertrand[/name] and [name]Soren[/name] are on my list, lol.
I love [name]Emile[/name]! [name]Emile[/name] [name]Hirsch[/name] is a jaw-dropping hunk so this makes me really like the name I guess. I think [name]Emil[/name] spelling might be better though to separate it from [name]Emily[/name] a little more.
[name]Caspar[/name] is just really NMS so I don’t really have an opinion on it.
I don’t like [name]Emile[/name], just because for me it has been butchered by [name]Emily[/name]'s frequent usage. Things like that would ruin a name for me, which is so unfortunate.
[name]Caspar[/name] is divine, in my opinion. I see it as strong, and it’s an uncommon name which is a definite plus.
