Hey guys!
[name_m]Just[/name_m] wanted to know what you thought of [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. I think it’s a really elegant and classy name.
I also think it lends to better nicknames - [name_f]Em[/name_f], [name_f]Emily[/name_f], [name_f]Emmie[/name_f] and [name_f]Emma[/name_f] than [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]. Also the [name_m]Eh[/name_m] sound as supposed to the Uh sound, at least in my accent sounds brighter
What do you guys think?
Also what vibes do you think [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] gives off?
I think it’s a pleasant name. A lot of the e names sound a bit alike to me though just because there are so many.
Thank you!
I think [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is a stunning name. It’s very regal sounding. I much prefer the sound over [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], though [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is also pretty. I find [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] much more elegant, and the pronunciation more international, as [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is pronounced differently in some languages.
Overall, it’s definitely one of my favourite names, popular or not. It is also has much better nn than [name_f]Amelia[/name_f].
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is pretty - bright and slightly gentler and more visually appealing than [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] to me. It has a sort of floral feel
So I’m a stuck record but……it’s a really great Shakespearean name there are quite a few Emilias in his plays but my favourite is in [name_m]Othello[/name_m]. She meets a sticky end but not before she’s delivered an absolutely searing feminist speech or two.
I think it’s pretty, light, lilting and much nicer than [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] which has become rather sickly sweet for me. [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] is frilly without being too much and has an Italian flair. It’s a princessy name, but she’s probably a princess who knows martial arts and has read every book in the palace library.
I love [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] in [name_m]Othello[/name_m]! She’s an excellent character, and I love how she stands up to [name_m]Iago[/name_m] in the end.
I agree, right now I’m preferring it considerably to [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], although both are nice. [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] has better nicknames too.
Thanks for the imagery! I’d have to agree with you.
Right? Such a good character. My best friend and I who studied together just love her - in fact the name is on her list for next baby!
Wow that’s awesome! And yeah I agree, she’s such an excellent character. It’s also a really pretty name, and a great literary namesake to be named after!
What’s your favourite shakespeare play?
🎭
Ridiculously hard question Beatrice is definitely my favourite character so possibly Much Ado? Twelfth Night and Midsummer are close behind… I also just love the late plays especially Tempest, Winters Tale and Cymbeline. Out of the tragedies…Lear and maybe Hamlet What about you?
I love [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]. I think it wear well throughout a life time , and I love the nickname options
The [name_u]Tempest[/name_u] and [name_m]Othello[/name_m]! I fell in love with the [name_u]Tempest[/name_u] when I had to do it a few years ago for an [name_f]English[/name_f] unit, that was the play that really got me into [name_m]Shakespeare[/name_m]. [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] is iconic and I love it. And [name_m]Othello[/name_m] was just so interesting and multifaceted! [name_m]Iago[/name_m] must be a super fun character to play, and there are so many underlying themes to dissect. [name_f]Desdemona[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] are wonderful characters in my opinion which make me love the play more!
I prefer this spelling/version over [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]! it does sound exactly like [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] when I say it out loud though (maybe a slight difference but not enough if there happened to be an [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f] in the room at the same time). it somehow looks less frilly to me than [name_f]Amelia[/name_f], which I like.
