Thoughts on Enid

Let’s talk about [name_f]Enid[/name_f]. I don’t really hear much about this name despite it being quite classical and sophisticated.

Any thoughts on middles or first names to pair with it?

All I can see is dine backwards :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:. Is it pronounced Ee-nid?

I ADORE Enid. It’s been my top girl name for awhile now and one my partner is actually on board with! It’s short but still feels substantial- easy to spell and pronounce despite being quite uncommon, great history and meaning. Clunky-cute.

@hellobanjo Yes EE-nid

I love the association with [name_f]Enid[/name_f] Blyton. I can see any problems with it. It is certainly due for a comeback.

Yeh, [name_f]Enid[/name_f] is one of those names that seems to have missed the boat on making a comeback isn’t it! I don’t hate it but I don’t love it either, I don’t think it’s as pretty as some of the similar names of its generation.

Also, the [name_f]Enid[/name_f] Blyton association would have once been a positive thing I think but more recently she has become quite a controversial figure in the UK for racism not being a particularly nice person, and because the association with the name is so strong, I wonder whether it’s really usable anymore, not sure…

[name_f]My[/name_f] elementary school friend’s daughter is [name_f]Enid[/name_f]. It’s charming and beautiful on her. She’s quite the firecracker. I like [name_f]Edith[/name_f], too.

I am fully on board with using [name_f]Enid[/name_f]! I find her a bit like [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] or [name_f]Juno[/name_f] - an unusual assortment of sounds in a girl’s name, with connotations of strong and positive personality traits. I think [name_f]Enid[/name_f] could be paired with something very classic and femme, or make a brilliant pairing with a more modern and gender neutral name, e.g.
[name_f]Enid[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Enid[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Enid[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u]

I’m not a fan of [name_f]Enid[/name_f]. It doesn’t sound that attractive to me, personally. The only [name_f]Enid[/name_f] I’ve heard of is [name_f]Enid[/name_f] Blyton, who is a bit of controversial figure as another poster mentioned. I think if a beautiful model or actress named [name_f]Enid[/name_f] came along then it could be “cool” again, but otherwise it’s stuck in style limbo.

I love the name [name_f]Enid[/name_f], it is very pretty and does feel classical and sophisticated. [name_f]My[/name_f] first thought is [name_f]Enid[/name_f] from The Walking Dead, but that’s not a bad connotation.

Oh I love Enid Philomena that’s excellent
A big second to Enid Felicity and Enid Penelope as well!

I just realized I didn’t give any combos in my original comment:

Enid Cordelia
Enid Winslow
Enid Rosemarie / Rose Marie (and of course Rosemary lol)
Enid Faye / Fae
Enid Susanna / Susannah / Susette
Enid Aubrieta
Enid Solveig
Enid Calanthe
Enid Florabel
Enid Miranda

Absolutely adore [name_f]Enid[/name_f]!

She’s sweet, homespun and endearing. To me [name_f]Enid[/name_f] feels whimsical and bright. She has the lovely meaning ‘life; spirit’ and the sweet nickname [name_f]Edie[/name_f] comes with her. [name_f]Enid[/name_f] reminds me of my childhood with [name_f]Enid[/name_f] Blyton books so I feel nostalgic when I hear the name I think she’s perfect.

You’ve had a few middle name suggestions so count any repeats as me being in agreement with the berries
