Two slightly quirky names I’ve been taken by recently. They’re a bit more down the “has-beens that now feel slightly weird” path than I usually go, but I like them all the same.
What do you think?
Also, are there any combos that jump out at you? I’d prefer quality over quantity if you do have some ideas. [name_u]Haven[/name_u]'t really thought about this in great depth, but [name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] is sweet.
I love [name_f]Eunice[/name_f] and [name_f]Margery[/name_f], although the spelling [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] ten times more, but that’s a personal preference and I don’t see anything wrong with [name_f]Margery[/name_f]. [name_f]Eunice[/name_f] [name_f]Daffodil[/name_f] jumped out at me.
I am not fond of the sound or look of [name_f]Eunice[/name_f]. I feel neutral about [name_f]Margery[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Margery[/name_f] fits in well with many of the well loved names currently.
I don’t think [name_f]Eunice[/name_f] is ready for revival. However, I think [name_f]Natalie[/name_f] Dormer has managed to freshen [name_f]Margery[/name_f] up.
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] is lovely. I think it would pair well with a quirky nature name.
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_f]Tulip[/name_f]
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_f]Bluebell[/name_f]
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_f]Lilac[/name_f]
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
or perhaps
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_f]Viola[/name_f]
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_f]Linnea[/name_f]
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_f]Luella[/name_f]
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_f]Adeline[/name_f]
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_f]Carys[/name_f]
[name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_f]Helena[/name_f]
I fully agree with portobello on [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] spelling, but I agree with everyone else on [name_f]Eunice[/name_f]. Too much like Eunuch which is what my phone originally wanted to correct [name_f]Eunice[/name_f] to.
I agree with the general consensus. While I want to love [name_f]Eunice[/name_f], I have to admit I find it ugly, whereas [name_f]Margery[/name_f] is a ‘hygge’ name for me - happy, warm, cozy and familiar, especially spelled [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]. I like that it’s become somewhat neglected, unexpected and quirky, as you say, but still simple, sturdy and ‘homespun’, plus its strong medieval heritage appeals to me ([name_f]Margery[/name_f] Kempe was a 15th-century English mystic; [name_f]Margery[/name_f] [name_m]Jourdain[/name_m], the ‘Witch of Eye’, was executed in 1441 for conspiring to kill the king with witchcraft). [name_f]Margery[/name_f] looks more medieval but I like [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f]'s resemblance to marjoram, plus it doesn’t remind me of margarine as much. I think I’ve liked it since I was 12 or whenever it was I first read about [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_m]Bruce[/name_m], the daughter of [name_m]Robert[/name_m] the [name_m]Bruce[/name_m] and progenitor of the royal [name_m]Stuart[/name_m] dynasty. [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] is another cool bearer. And another longtime love of mine is Marsaili, a similar-sounding Scottish name.
