Thoughts On Finnick Anthony Basil

Let me start off by saying, I know that [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] may remind you of the word “finnicky” but I don’t care and I’m not changing my mind, so don’t bother leaving that remark, thank you.

Anyway, to my point.

I’m starting to like this combo, but I’m still very skeptical about using “[name_m]Basil[/name_m]” (prounounced [name_u]Bay[/name_u]-Zill). Mainly because it sounds too modern and I’m still having a hard time letting go of “[name_m]Charles[/name_m]” (pronounced Cha-rulz). So what are your thoughts on [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Basil[/name_m]? Is it a good match for the sibset, Haytham [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Dorian[/name_u] and [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] [name_m]Albert[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]?

Also, I’m open to suggestions! Preferably names that are Greek in origin, familiar (but not too out there), and doesn’t start with A.

Thank you so much, Berries!

I think [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Basil[/name_m] flows well together, and sounds good with your other kids names.

Since you don’t seem sold on [name_m]Basil[/name_m] yet, what about [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Vasili[/name_m]?

I do like [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m]. If you can’t use [name_m]Charles[/name_m], what about [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] [name_m]Carl[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m]?

I love [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Basil[/name_m]! [name_m]Basil[/name_m] doesn’t feel modern to me, it gives the combo a slightly British vibe that balances out the modern feel of [name_m]Finnick[/name_m]. I think it works well in your sibset too!

[name_m]Finnick[/name_m] [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] ([name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] is not Greek but it does bring to mind Ancient Greece)

I don’t like [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] for the reason you’ve already pointed out. [name_m]Basil[/name_m] is an old name, so I don’t see how it’s “too modern.” I’m blah on [name_m]Anthony[/name_m]. I love your other names you’ve decided on.

[name_m]Basil[/name_m] has been around since the 12th century. Not modern AT ALL.

That being said, I think [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] flows much better.

[name_m]Basil[/name_m] is an old school Catholic name, so it doesn’t feel too modern at all. The full name sounds fine.

I had no idea that [name_m]Basil[/name_m] was an old school Catholic name. The only association I have with it is that it is an herb, and so with very traditional sounding names, it seems extremely out of place for me. If I had an association of tradition and history with [name_m]Basil[/name_m], I might not have felt that way. I love [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] or [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m], whichever order you were originally planning for that.

Take my opinion with a grain of salt, though, as it is really your taste that matters. Most people won’t even know what his middle names are, and even if they did, I’m sure they will come up with all sorts of opinions on the matter that don’t have the slightest weight. If you love it, go for it.

The name [name_m]Basil[/name_m] is typically pronounced with the short A sound, as opposed to the herb, which uses the long A sound.

Thank you so much the feedback, everyone! Unfortunately, due to my capricious mind, I have discarded [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] along with [name_m]Basil[/name_m] and [name_m]Charles[/name_m]. So I’m back to square one with [name_m]Finnick[/name_m]. :frowning:

P.S.:

What do you guys think of Finnick Anscom?

@emmievis:

[name_m]Finnick[/name_m] [name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] is actually on my GP list!

I was going to support [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] - a strong, handsome but also sprightly name!

I find [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] Anscom a bit too much of a mouth scramble.

[name_m]Finnick[/name_m] isn’t a name I’d normally go for, but I really love this combo! So charming!

Can I ask why the odd pronunciation of [name_m]Basil[/name_m]?? I feel like changing the pronunciation of such a common word is asking for mistakes…

I kinda love [name_m]Finnick[/name_m]. It’s really cool I think. And [name_m]Finnick[/name_m] Odair in The Hunger Games is a great association.

I’m team [name_m]Charles[/name_m] as well! For some reason [name_m]Basil[/name_m] reminds me of [name_u]Fennel[/name_u] [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Basil[/name_m] which sounds like a spice cabinet in my mind.

Edit: I just saw that you scrapped those names! What about Finnick Alistair?
