Always unsure with boys names but coming back to this one.
How do you see the name Gilbert? I’ve always thought of Anne of Green Gables and personally adore that association.
It’s a bit more literary to me than my other son (w0odrow isaac - woods
) ..does it fit ? (Sisters chava, hazel)
How do you picture a little Gilbert?
What middle would you pair it with?
Could it be rustic or rugged or woodsy with any particular middle names?

i love [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m], and think he fits perfectly with your set. he’s pastoral, vintage, and oh so handsome.
with your set, i’d opt for [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Silas[/name_m] or [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Boone[/name_m]. i love
W o o d s & G i l
for brothers!
also, and you totally didn’t ask, so disregard if this misses the mark, but i feel like [name_m]Leland[/name_m] and [name_m]Vernon[/name_m] would be perfect for you

I think [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] is handsome. I have the same association that you do. I like the nickname [name_m]Gil[/name_m]. I think it works great with your other kids’ names.

I’ve always thought [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] was so handsome. I think he matches well with your other children in terms of vibes, but I also think he doesn’t feel as nature-y, which would probably encourage me to use it in the middle, if I were you.
I think [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] is a bit more reserved and cozy, rather than adventurous. I picture him inside at a little log cabin, reading by the fire as he watches rain fall down on the pine trees!
I’d go with something like [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Reason[/name_m] or [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Augustine[/name_m]. Maybe [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_f]Forsythe[/name_f] or [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Moss[/name_m] if I were trying to match C h a v a, H a z e l, and W o o d s!

I loooove [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m]. [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_f]Blythe[/name_f] is an obvious positive association, but it was also the name of one of Shakespeare’s brothers, as well as [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] Grape, [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Norrell[/name_m] in [name_m]Jonathan[/name_m] [name_f]Strange[/name_f] and Mr [name_m]Norrell[/name_m] (one of my favourites!), and there’s [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] and [name_m]Sullivan[/name_m] of course! So to me, he feels very literary/cultural. In full he has a kind of bespectacled nerdiness which I find endearing, but I love, love, love [name_m]Bertie[/name_m] which I just find so vintagey and cosy and cheeky and charming. Overall [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] feels earnest, bookish, quiet, and a little cottagecore to me. I do agree with [name_f]Mollie[/name_f] that he might suit your set best as a middle, though - he’s a great match for I.saac!

[name_f]Anne[/name_f] of [name_m]Green[/name_m] [name_m]Gables[/name_m] immediately! I’m not bothered about [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m], but it’s got something about it I like too. Perhaps I’ll come around when I can appreciate its slight clunk.
I don’t think it fits [name_f]Chava[/name_f] and [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] especially, but that doesn’t really matter - they end up fitting.
[name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] is a sensitive, clever child. [name_m]Strong[/name_m] emotional and intellectual intelligence.
For woodsy and rugged, maybe… (I’m thinking boomer+ names or perhaps sort of American names)

I think it’s very usable. Never cared much for [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of [name_m]Green[/name_m] [name_m]Gables[/name_m] but [name_m]Gil[/name_m] has a very friendly feel to it.

Oh I love [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m]! [name_m]Gil[/name_m] is very sweet, but I’m honestly smitten with [name_m]Bertie[/name_m] lately, even more. I think of [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] as a mix between the one from [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of [name_m]Green[/name_m] [name_m]Gables[/name_m] and one from a series of novels I read as a teenager… that [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] was a rebellious rake and incredibly selfish and self-seeking but through the story had a wonderful redemptive arc and became one of the most principled men, full of integrity, goodness, and grace. So when I think of [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m], I think of someone a little impish, but also kind, full of goodness and integrity, more trustworthy than the sun to rise each morn. I don’t know that he fits with my general taste in boys’ names, he almost feels too vintage, but I love him for you! He’d fit so well with [name_f]Chava[/name_f], [name_f]Hazel[/name_f], and [name_m]Woods[/name_m].
[name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] was my first idea, but that clearly won’t work
. Maybe:
- [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_f]Arden[/name_f] (like the Shakespearean forest?)
- [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Forest[/name_m]
- [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Ash[/name_m]
- [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Cedar[/name_m]
- [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Rowan[/name_m]
- [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Jasper[/name_m]
- [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Forster[/name_m]
- [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Moss[/name_m] (really like this! [name_m]Not[/name_m] as obviously woodsy as a tree name like [name_m]Cedar[/name_m] or Rowan!)
- [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Rivers[/name_m]
- [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Ephraim[/name_m]
- [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m]
Good luck!

[name_m]Not[/name_m] a fan personally, [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] is very old man to me
I love [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of [name_m]Green[/name_m] [name_m]Gables[/name_m] so I have somewhat of a soft spot for [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] but for some reason it never makes it on to my boys list. Never the less its a great name. I absolutly love it with your other children. I think if you went with [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] you would want a more rustic middle name to balance it out [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m], [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Oakes[/name_m], [name_m]Gilbert[/name_m] [name_m]Fox[/name_m], something like that. As for nicknames, [name_m]Gil[/name_m] doesn’t give me the vibes you are looking for so maybe [name_m]Bert[/name_m] or [name_m]Bertie[/name_m] is a better option?
I ADORE these options. Thank you for taking the time to reply

[name_f]Love[/name_f], adore, also think the world of [name_m]Bertie[/name_m].
It’s had a soft spot for me forever and is a family name. Well, [name_m]Bert[/name_m] is, but would you imagine my little burst of happiness when I saw my great grandpa recorded his and his wife’s name on a census record as “Ivy & Bertie”

Yes!! He is much more literary and bookish to me, it doesn’t always feel like quite the perfect fit but he is hard not to love all the same isnt he?
i think middle place would be grand if i found the right nature first name, I wish their were more classic nature names for boys! If we used him first, I’d love if he ended up with a nature middle atleast.
