thoughts on Halloran??

Hey berries!

Well I’m back again to get your opinions on a name!

I recently came across the name [name]Halloran[/name], I’d never heard it before and thought it was pretty cool

It’s a Gaelic name (mostly a surname) so there’s not much info on it, the meaning Nameberry and other sources indicate is along the lines of “a man from over seas” or mysterious foreigner etc. which is a near meaning too

It’s definitely growing on me, so what is your personal opinion?

[name]TIA[/name]!

**note: I’m pronouncing the name as “hal-ur-in”, correct me if I’m mistaken!

Not my taste. [name]Hal[/name] could be a good nickname.

I thougt so too, thanks!

I do like the NN [name]Hal[/name], but the name [name]Halloran[/name] feels strange to me. It almost sounds like someone with an accent saying halloween or halogen (as in light bulbs)

thanks all  I still kinda like it, but Im definitely are taking your opinions into account!

I guess I’m alone in the love of [name]Halloran[/name]. I would never use it for a real person, but I could see myself using it for a character. I like how it sounds and [name]Hal[/name] is a good nn.
I have it listed as meaning: [name]Male[/name] Descendant of a Pirate or Stranger from Overseas

It doesn’t make me think of Halloween or hello or anything. I like it.

Thank you @hardertobreathe!! I feel the same  I might consider using it on a child, but it would take some debate. thanks again!

I agree with javad.

thanks for your thought!

I know someone with this as their surname (well, it’s O’H, but close enough) and I struggle to see it as a given name, sorry. I don’t think it’s got the prettiest sound to it, I think it would be better as a middle name if anything.

I like it. It’s been hovering on my list for some time now. You pronounce it the way I do, no clue if that’s right but it seems logical to me. I think a [name]Halloran[/name] would fit right in with his peers.

Huh, I think it totally works. Like [name]Hal[/name] or [name]Lorne[/name] as a nickname. You might even be able to get away with [name]Arlo[/name]…
