Due in less then 3 months and thinking of names! Today I’m crushing on [name_m]Hubert[/name_m] - am I crazy?! Is this too nerdy or out there?
It’s out there. What else do you like (that a teenage boy could live with)?
I prefer [name_m]Herbert[/name_m], but I don’t hate [name_m]Hubert[/name_m].
I agree with above I like [name_m]Hubert[/name_m] but prefer [name_m]Herbert[/name_m]
I really like the name [name_m]Hugh[/name_m], but our last name and his middle name will be one syllable so I’d like to go with a two syllable first. Other names I’m liking:
[name_m]Frederick[/name_m]
[name_u]August[/name_u]
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m]
husband likes [name_m]Jack[/name_m], but I feel like it’s getting too popular.
Thanks!!
I MUCH prefer [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] to [name_m]Hubert[/name_m]. Honestly, my first thought was Pubert.
I really really love [name_m]Hubert[/name_m], and he can always go by [name_m]Hugh[/name_m], [name_m]Hughie[/name_m] or [name_u]Bert[/name_u] if he wants. I have [name_m]Herbert[/name_m] on my short list, and I see them as equals, but [name_m]Herbert[/name_m] is a family name, so that was the deciding factor.
I think that with the names [name_m]Albert[/name_m], [name_m]Alfred[/name_m], [name_m]Robert[/name_m], [name_m]Hugh[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], etc. being quite popular and/or perfectly accepted names, [name_m]Hubert[/name_m] isn’t super zany. It already is within the top 1000 (for the UK), ranking at about 500th. It is quirky, but I think a kid or adult could really make it their own. Good luck!
I like [name_m]Hugh[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], and [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]. [name_m]Hubert[/name_m] is ok though. It’s got a geek-chic thing going for it, and I like the nn [name_m]Hugh[/name_m] so much.
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is a cool name.
[name_m]Hugo[/name_m] and [name_m]Hugh[/name_m], yes. [name_m]Hubert[/name_m] and [name_m]Herbert[/name_m], no. Too old fashioned, clunky and unusual and too much teasing potential I’m afraid. A while ago my dad told me that a colleague at work had announced that his new born was called [name_m]Herbert[/name_m], nn [name_m]Herbie[/name_m]. They all thought he was joking and some people even laughed. If this is the response from adults I’d hate to think what kids would say. That being said, if you really love it and don’t think teasing would be a problem then don’t let anyone else’s opinions affect your decision.
