[name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering what everyone’s thoughts are on [name_f]Isla[/name_f] (Eye-la). Thanks!
I think it’s a pretty, contemporary, on-trend option that has a nice sound, evokes natural beauty, and will age well. I am pleased to see this name gaining use.
It’s a pretty name, heavily used where I am though (I’m in the UK). Heavily used for a good reason… It is gorgeous! I prefer [name_f]Ayla[/name_f] (same pr.) myself, but [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is lovely too.
I’m not a fan of the spelling, it makes me want to say it ISS-lah. It’s a nice name, I like the sound of it, but I would use a different spelling.
I’ve always seen [name_f]Isla[/name_f] as old fashioned because I had a great grandmother [name_f]Eila[/name_f] (pronounced the same way, short for Heulwen.) However I have since known an adult [name_f]Isla[/name_f] and I think it looks pretty and works well on a child
Personally, I think [name_f]Isla[/name_f]'s a delightful name, and I have it on my list as a potential middle name to honour my Scottish heritage. My only reservation towards it is that it seems to be increasingly popular in my area (with good reason, it’s a beautiful choice), with my niece having gone to school with two. S/O and I also have two close family friends with littles named [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]/[name_f]Isla[/name_f] (pronounced the same way), so it’s a bit too much for me.
I think it’s so beautiful! Not sure if I would use it because it’s starting to become really popular and you might run into a lot of them, but if that’s not a concern I’d say absolutely!
We clearly love it, as it is our top girl choice we loved the sound. Not just the literal sound, but also how it sounds like it could be slightly old-fashioned while also sounding completely normal for today’s world. The spelling is sweet and fairly straight-forward. It doesn’t sound overly childish nor too “old lady.” Yes, it is becoming popular here in the States, but for a good reason
I really like it - the strong Eye sound is lovely! For me it’s too popular, but I understand the popularity as it’s a sweet name
I really like [name_f]Isla[/name_f]. Such a pretty name!
I love [name_f]Isla[/name_f] but much prefer it spelled [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]’s meaning of “oaktree, halo, or moonlight”
I love the name [name_f]Isla[/name_f]! I find it pretty and it ages well (suits a little girl as well as an adult).
The only reason why I wouldn’t use it personally is due to the popularity. I completely understand why it’s a popular name but I know of too many [name_f]Isla[/name_f]'s!
The first time I saw the name [name_f]Isla[/name_f] (when [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Anne[/name_f]'s grand-daughter was born) , I misread it as [name_f]Ilsa[/name_f]. I knew a lady named [name_f]Ila[/name_f] once (she has passed now). I did like her name. My daughters grew up with a girl named [name_f]Ilsa[/name_f] at school. Probably why I misread the name.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] the name [name_f]Isla[/name_f]!
