DH and I have been looking for the right name for our third daughter. We just stumbled upon [name]Ivorie[/name]/[name]Ivory[/name] and DH is in love! He thinks that [name]Ivory[/name] would sound perfect next to our other daughters’ names, [name]Odette[/name] and [name]Acacia[/name].
Although I do like it, I’m not sold.
DH prefers the [name]Ivorie[/name] spelling, and loves [name]Ivorie[/name] [name]Tallulah[/name] [name]Watson[/name].
Yeah, that’s what I told DH. Spelle [name]Ivorie[/name] just looks like a stripper name.
We don’t use nicknames for our girls, so nicknames wouldn’t be an issue. It one arises, then that’s okay, but we just call our girls by [name]Odette[/name] and [name]Acacia[/name].
But I do like [name]Ivory[/name] [name]Tallulah[/name] :).
Would you be open to [name]Ivy[/name]? [name]Ivory[/name] is a little but stage name-ish to me plus it makes me think of the illegal [name]Ivory[/name] trade but its not bad sounding in theory, but I would use the [name]Ivory[/name] spelling if I were you.
I’m not a huge fan of [name]Ivory[/name], sorry. I’ve heard it used on both genders pretty much equally so it seems a bit too ambiguous to me (especially next to such girly, sweet names as [name]Odette[/name] and [name]Acacia[/name]). I would either opt for [name]Ivy[/name], or go for one of your other options ([name]Imogen[/name], [name]Thisbe[/name], and [name]Cecily[/name], right?)–I think all of those are lovely with [name]Odette[/name] and [name]Acacia[/name].
I like it, but am biased because it’s our cats name we used to call her [name]Ivy[/name] for short… And we also call her [name]Ive[/name], Ivoryanna and Ivorypants. I agree you should spell it [name]Ivory[/name] though.
Roman[/name]]I love [name]Ivory[/name]! But I can’t stand the spelling [name]Ivorie[/name]…it just doesn’t seem right.
[name]Ivory[/name] [name]Tallulah[/name] is lovely!
I prefer [name]Imogen[/name] [name]Tallulah[/name], but [name]Ivory[/name] [name]Tallulah[/name] is nice! [name]Ivy[/name] is a nice nickname if you want to use one (or if she does)
Can’t say I care much for it. I agree with previous poster, I’ve known the name on both genders so it’s confusing, also on boys it’s usually an African American name, no problem if you are not but just FYI (I think you are in the UK too the considerations are different most likely). Also, I agree in thinking about the [name]Ivory[/name] trade / killing elephants : (, and it makes me think of the soap, and the song “[name]Ebony[/name] and [name]Ivory[/name]” finally.
I quite like [name]Idony[/name]/[name]Idonie[/name]/[name]Idona[/name]…seems vaguely similar. Or [name]Iona[/name]/[name]Ione[/name].
