Thoughts on Jillian and Rowan

I’m 33 weeks now and I keep narrowing down our list. I want to have 2 or 3 names to take with us to the hospital. Please give your feedback on these two names for our baby girl. I keep comparing all our names to [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] because that is the name my husband and I equally like the most. Now we are both really liking [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] He’s so picky I’m always excited to find another name he likes. Not worried about middle names it will be an honor name and we have a few to choose from. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is trendy?

No, I don’t think [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is too trendy. It’s a well established name now for both sexes and I actually really like it. In fact, I much prefer it to [name_f]Jillian[/name_f], which for me is a “mum name”. I don’t hate it though, and it’s certainly not trendy.

Thanks for your feedback. I really like both. I did however think [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] may sound like a mom name and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] might sound trendy. I just don’t know enough [name_f]Jillian[/name_f]'s to make it sound dated to me. I do have the Bachelorette (from the show) association but I think that will fade.

[name_f]Jillian[/name_f] sounds like a little girl. You never can tell with [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]. I would definitely use [name_f]Jillian[/name_f]. I don’t get the mum name comments. I’ve never met a [name_f]Jillian[/name_f].

All the jillians I know are between 25 and 60. That being said, I like jillian.
Either name would be sweet on a little girl.

[name_f]Jillian[/name_f] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] are lovely names. I don’t consider [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] too trendy at all, for a boy. [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] definitely isn’t dated to me, but then again no name does to me so I’m probably not an authority on the subject.
Good luck.

First off, I just want to say that I am excited to see that you will be taking 2-3 names to the hospital, and then deciding! My husband and I are doing the same thing, but probably with 3-5 names.

As for [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], I do not think that it is trendy. This has been one of my favorite names for 5 years or so. However, I do think it is more masculine, I am seeing it on the girl board a lot more now.

I prefer [name_f]Jillian[/name_f]. Both names are nice but [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] leans masculine for me. I think [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] is lovely and would be adorable on a little girl.

I prefer [name_f]Jillian[/name_f]. I don’t find it dated at all.

Thanks for the feedback. It is nice to read your thoughts. My mom informed me that she really doesn’t care for [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]. It’s hard for me to go with a name that my mom doesn’t like because she such an amazing and involved mother and grandmother. I want her to like the name too. Trying to find name options that my husband, my mom and I all really like is a challenge.

So far the two that are consistently on our list are [name_f]Jillian[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Jill[/name_f] and [name_f]Jilly[/name_f]) and [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] (nn [name_u]Josie[/name_u])
