[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone…what are your thoughts on the name [name_f]Julia[/name_f]? Is it too common?
It is pretty and timeless! If you are looking for a less common option, there is [name_f]Juliet[/name_f], [name_f]Junia[/name_f], and [name_f]Tulia[/name_f]
I’ve known a few, but it’s a really pretty name. [name_f]Julia[/name_f] is common for a good reason.
Pretty. I always think of [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_m]Caesar[/name_m]. I associate it with someone who is popular, friendly, and attractive. It’s not overused like [name_f]Emma[/name_f], anyway, and if you like it, go for it! It think it would go well with a floral middle.
I adore [name_f]Julia[/name_f]! If it weren’t already taken by a family member it would be very high on my list!
It’s well known, but I don’t think it’s that common - I don’t know any under the age of 20. Obviously different places will have different experiences, but around me [name_f]Julia[/name_f] is very much not a child’s name at the moment so a [name_f]Julia[/name_f] here would be pretty unique!
I absolutely love [name_f]Julia[/name_f] (and it’s variants) . It’s so timeless and elegant !
I may be a tad biased haha but I love the name. It’s so sweet, simple and timeless. There are so many nicknames too. It may be a bit common but I personally feel there are other names, like @Little_Molly already mentioned that are far more popular and overused. I feel lucky to be a [name_f]Julia[/name_f]. However, there are also other versions of the name such as [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_f]Juliana[/name_f] that are just as pretty!
I’ve never met a little [name_f]Julia[/name_f] so it doesn’t feel popular to me.
Julia is strong and feminine
Will never be dated.
I love the name. I don’t know any [name_m]Julias[/name_m] personally, but I fell for it due to one of the main characters on Murdoch Mysteries – Dr. [name_f]Julia[/name_f] [name_m]Ogden[/name_m] [name_m]Murdoch[/name_m] (she married the title character of the show).
I would love to meet a real life [name_f]Julia[/name_f]!
I pronounce it like this:
It doesn’t feel too popular to me. I’ve met a handful in my lifetime but they’ve been of varying ages, and all would be adults by now. That said, it doesn’t feel “dated” to me in any way— lovely and usable!
In the US, [name_f]Julia[/name_f] ranked #99 in 2019, a decline from its #27 ranking in 2001. That being said, it’s always been in the top 150 but never in the top 20, so it’s a good example of a name that is known and well-used but not super popular. It’s nothing like [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Mia[/name_f], etc.
It has been much more common in past decades. At 99, it isn’t likely that there will be other little [name_m]Julias[/name_m] in classes. I do think it’s a timeless classic that would sound lovely on a baby girl.
I only know one [name_f]Julia[/name_f], but I think I prefer [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] because it’s the more classic/timeless one. [name_f]Julia[/name_f] doesn’t seem overused/trendy, so I think it’s a safe choice.
I love it — classic and beautiful.
I like [name_f]Julia[/name_f] a lot! It used to be one of my favorites. Not quite so much anymore, but I still like her a lot and would much prefer to meet a [name_f]Julia[/name_f] than a [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] or even a [name_f]Juliana[/name_f], I think? Somehow, it feels more refreshing. I do like [name_f]Junia[/name_f]/Juno/Juniper, though.
It’s so classy. I love [name_f]Julia[/name_f], it’s timeless.
In fact, a few years ago a taught a middle school class with 5 [name_m]Julias[/name_m]. They happened to all be named for their great grandmothers - like all great classic names, they come around and around!
Interestingly, they all went by [name_f]Julia[/name_f], no nicknames at all.
Love it. Hardly common in either sense of the word I think.
Julia is one of those names that if I could go back and re-name myself I would see this name as an absolute gift. You can be anything as a [name_f]Julia[/name_f], but always classy and respected. Easy to spell and pronounce, known but not over-used.
As a [name_f]Julia[/name_f], I feel like I could maybe chime in here
I have always loved my name. I think it’s sweet and feminine, but without being too frilly. Everyone knows how to spell it and I’ve had the occasional compliment on it, which I loved as a young girl. Who doesn’t want to hear that their name is pretty? It’s classic without being super common and because of that, seems to fit all ages well. I don’t know where you’re located, but as a midwest-located American born in the 90’s, I’ve encountered maybe 15-20 [name_m]Julias[/name_m] in my life, and I think it’s actually gone down in popularity a bit since the mid-90’s. So I definitely don’t think it’s too common, personally, but everyone has a different standard. I also much prefer [name_f]Julia[/name_f] to [name_u]Julie[/name_u], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]/te, [name_f]Juliana[/name_f], etc. but I’m probably just biased!
