So I’m not expecting a boy anytime soon (however a little girl is on the way!) but I’ve been thinking back on this name. July was the name of my high school sweetheart and we dated for many years and I always loved his name. No one else I knew had his name, male or female and that’s what made it so special. I’m an avid writer and I’m thinking of using July in one of my stories. Do you guys like it? I loved it with my whole heart and I’m thinking about some older, classic middle names! Please provide any you see fit
I actually have had [name_u]July[/name_u] on my (very) long list of favorites for girl names for a while! I can’t quite think of it as a boy’s name (I think because of Julie), so it’s fascinating to me that you knew one! Sounds like he really pulled it off. I feel like a boy named [name_u]Julian[/name_u] and nicknamed [name_u]July[/name_u] would be really cool
His birth name wasn’t [name_u]July[/name_u] but his real name was similar to [name_u]Julian[/name_u], it was just that his birth name didn’t suit him and everyone called him [name_u]July[/name_u]! It was never really confused with Julie…everyone said it like jah-LIE (lie rhymes with pie and the ah in jah makes the sound like u in but) and not joo-LIE. If you say both out loud it’ll make more sense, but [name_u]July[/name_u] would be darling on a girl
I love [name_u]July[/name_u] for a boy, most names are becoming unisex anyway, might as well. It would be so cute. It doesn’t sound like [name_u]Julie[/name_u] at all either besides the J part.
It’s spunky and cool! I think it deserves more love, considering how fashionable other word and month names are
LOVE the name!! Very happy to see it being considered!
Such a pretty name! I never thought about how good it actually works on a boy as well
[name_u]July[/name_u] is intriguing and distinct
I agree…for me it’s not just it being a month. I love the sound of it and how it looks!
I love [name_u]July[/name_u]! I’ve had it on both my boys’ and girls’ lists.
For middles, something like [name_u]July[/name_u] [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] or [name_u]July[/name_u] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] would be very handsome!
That’s very neat! [name_u]July[/name_u] is definitely growing on myself as a boy’s nickname. I don’t think it sounds sounds like [name_u]Julie[/name_u], it just reminds me of it especially on paper. I have an aunt named Jully pronounced [name_u]Julie[/name_u] so that could be part of why I associate them together!
That’s a new spelling of [name_u]Julie[/name_u]! Jully is cute and so similar to [name_u]July[/name_u]. [name_f]Glad[/name_f] you’re joining the [name_u]July[/name_u] bandwagon!
it’s one of my guilty pleasure middle names for a girl, and i’ve never thought of it on a boy! i would maybe prefer it as a nickname for something like Julian, but i like it a lot! it has a very Southern vibe to me.
It’s not something I would have thought of but certainly appreciate!!
I like it though I picture it on a girl more so, kind of like [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]May[/name_f] but [name_u]August[/name_u] is totally boy to me so I guess not all month names are feminine. But I think the LIE ending is more feminine sounding however if I met a boy named [name_u]July[/name_u], it could grow on me and you have that association so I can definitely see the appeal. I would love to see [name_u]July[/name_u] as a character’s name in a story!
I adore this name! I would love to see it used more (I’ve never met a July) as a standalone first, but I also love it as a nn for [name_f]Julia[/name_f] or [name_u]Julian[/name_u]! Adding to my long list right now!
