I just love this name so much. I can’t seem to get Kelsea out of my head! I do like Kelsey as well, but not as much. Would a lifetime of correcting the name be worth it? What do you think?
I like [name_f]Kelsea[/name_f]! I think the singer, [name_f]Kelsea[/name_f] Ballerini helps to normalize it a bit too It’s very sweet!
I feel like the correcting could be irritating but only for a few years (coming from experience as a [name_u]Haley[/name_u] - it really only bothered me from age 13-18, and I was already bothered by a LOT of things then
).
I also feel like [name_f]Kelsea[/name_f] is an easy fix - “Kelsea with an ea, no y” would be a pretty easy explanation! (Compared to my name,
“Haley, no i”
“No, only one Y”
“No, not ee on the end…ugh - H-A-L-E-Y” lol)
Yes, thank you! I was just thinking about how so many common names are easily misspelled! [name_u]Haley[/name_u], [name_u]Michael[/name_u], Sarah/Sara, Caitlin/Katelyn/Kaitlyn/etc, and my name gets messed up all the time too! [name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_u]Dakota[/name_u] and I get Dekoda and Dicota all the time
[name_f]My[/name_f] thinking is, if it was an easier fix than correcting the 27 different spellings of [name_u]Haley[/name_u], like say, [name_f]Lucie[/name_f] vs. [name_f]Lucy[/name_f], then it’s probably not going to be too bad! [name_f]Kelsea[/name_f] could correct it with “Kel, and then sea, like water” or “Kelsea with an ea, no y”, which, imo feel like pretty easy ways to explain, rather than constantly needing it spelled out
Also, good to remember that pretty much every name in the world has to be spelled out at least once I worked with someone once who asked me how to spell a co-worker’s name - the co-worker whose name was being spelled out was [name_f]Mary[/name_f]
I only dislike spelling variations if they are harder to pronounce. [name_f]Kelsea[/name_f] is fine. Would also be good as a link/honor to [name_u]Chelsea[/name_u].
I think [name_f]Kelsea[/name_f] is sweet! I also think of [name_f]Kelsea[/name_f] Ballerini, who makes the spelling more recognizable. I don’t think it will be too frustrating to correct people, since the pronunciation stays very clear.
kelsea is very sweet, i prefer this spelling as it feels a little more modern! x
I do think she’d always be correcting it but i think people would get used to it. She could always say something like “Chelsea but with a K at the start” to help people along.
