[name_f]Do[/name_f] you immediately think of the [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars reference? Does it read as a name to you? what feeling/ vibe do you get from it? would you use it as a boys or girls name? Any other thoughts on using Kyber as a name?
My only association with this name is the Khyber Pass in Pakistan. I don’t know what the [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars reference is.
To me, Kyber reads as masculine. I think it sounds interesting and different.
I immediately thought of the [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars reference! I actually opened this thread to mention the reference. I think it definitely still works as a name and reads more masculine to me. I like it as a name, it seems like a cool reference to something you love without being super obvious and reminds me of a modern take on [name_u]Tyler[/name_u]!
Came here to say pretty much exactly this! I know nothing about [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars but Kyber feels very sci-fi to me because of the similarity to “cyber.” I think I could get used to it as a name if I met a Kyber though! It leans masculine to me.
Yes, my immediate thought was SW, but I don’t think it would be obvious to anyone who didn’t really grow up with it. To anyone else, it probably just sounds like a fresh modern name, an updated [name_u]Tyler[/name_u]. However, to those who did grow up with SW, it will likely be pretty obvious. So do with that what you will.
Oh, and it definitely feels like a boy name to me, if you were to use it.
oh nice! I was hoping that it would be a cool nod to [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars without being too in your face
I don’t get the [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars reference, so it’s fine to me. Perhaps it’s only obvious to those who have seen the films, unlike [name_m]Kylo[/name_m] or [name_f]Leia[/name_f]?
Yes, I think so. It’s not a character name, which I think tend to be more well-known because they’re everywhere.
So in [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars a kyber crystal is a gem that is also a power source and is used to power the jedi’s lightsabers.
Me too. I don’t know about the [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars reference. Not a fan of its sound, although it kind of reads as a name - a brave name.
eta: reads completely masculine to me
oh I didn’t think of that but it definitely does sound like a modern spin on Tyler and that does make it feel more masculine to me, I was originally thinking it leaned girl because of it being a “crystal” but if most people don’t know that then it does feel more masculine
I immediately knew I recognized the word but it didn’t hit me until you said [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars. I don’t personally like it but the sound works as a name I think!
I immediately think of [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars Kyber Crystals, but honestly that just makes the name even cooler to me (massive [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars fan)! I think it feels more masculine because of it’s similarity to [name_u]Kyler[/name_u] and [name_u]Tyler[/name_u]. I get a cool, modern, neon lights feel to this name. I think it can definitely be used for an actual kid! You might get some questions on whether you’re a [name_f]Star[/name_f] Wars fan but in general it would fit in really well with other names that are more popular right now while still being super cool and unique. And because of it’s similarities to [name_u]Kyler[/name_u] and [name_u]Tyler[/name_u] I don’t think anyone would bat an eye at a little kid named Kyber (also the super cute nn [name_u]Kai[/name_u]!)
I didn’t think star wars, but it does immediately bring to mind the khyber pass in pakistan, and with it, carry on up the khyber, a very silly classic british comedy film.
it’s not really my cup of tea, but I could see it on a person. I think it’s pretty gender-neutral.
thank you for the feedback! especially from a fellow star wars fan it’s validating to hear that you think it’s usable as a boys name.
