This name has really grown on me lately. It’s maybe a little serious, but has a softness and strength too, I think. Has a couple nickname options in [name_u]Lee[/name_u] and [name_m]Land[/name_m], which is nice. Plus, my husband’s middle name is [name_u]Lee[/name_u], so I like that connection. It’s quite old fashioned, though. Perhaps too much? And what about middle names? Would you go traditional (ie [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_m]Robert[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], etc) or more modern ([name_m]Knox[/name_m], [name_m]Brooks[/name_m],[name_m]Boone[/name_m], etc)?
[name_m]Hoyt[/name_m] and [name_m]Quaide[/name_m] are unique suggestions! I like those quite a bit, though I’m not sure I’m brave enough to use them. [name_u]Leland[/name_u] and those would definitely be unusual names here.
I’ve never actually heard it before, but it does sound old-fashioned. However, more of an old-fashioned ready to come back. You could also do [name_m]Leo[/name_m] as a more modern nickname!
Thanks for the feedback! I’m glad [name_u]Leland[/name_u] is getting some love. I’ve really developed a soft spot for him lately. And I do think I like him with modern middles (at least [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] and [name_m]Boone[/name_m]), although there are some great classic ones that go well, too.
I think that [name_u]Leland[/name_u] [name_m]Boone[/name_m] is the CUTEST. [name_u]Leland[/name_u] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is cute too, but I prefer more unique names.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] this name! It’s not common which I love! It’s a strong name but not harsh sounding. I have [name_m]Lelan[/name_m] on my boys name list so it goes better with the middle name I have chosen. I’ve only ever met one [name_m]Lelan[/name_m] before. I like names that are hardly ever heard.
I like it! I went to high school with a [name_u]Leland[/name_u]; he was born in 1998, and it never struck me as old fashioned (but I also went to high school with people named [name_f]Shirley[/name_f] and [name_m]Norman[/name_m]).
I think it sounds on trend, so it doesn’t feel so old. I kinda like it with a nature middle name:
[name_u]Leland[/name_u] was at its most recent peak (before the 2000 s) in the early 1900s, so I guess that’s why it strikes me as old fashioned. Haha But definitely not in a bad way. I’ve only known one [name_u]Leland[/name_u] and he was a gentleman in his 40s at the time I knew him, but I associate the name most with the character on When Calls the Heart, which is set in the early 1900s, I believe. So I’m glad people don’t think it sounds too old fashioned. Also, I quite like [name_u]Leland[/name_u] [name_m]Forrest[/name_m]. Hadn’t considered a nature name with it. Thanks!
It is one of my favorite names, If my husband had not vetoed it would be a serious contender. I like it with a classic mn like [name_u]Leland[/name_u] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is wonderful.
