So today I’ve been head over heels over Leto. I’ve liked it for a while but today’s it’s just hittin different. I love the fact that it’s the name of a goddess but still has such a spunky, edgy feel to it and I love how it sounds more androgynous because of the O ending and the association with Jared Leto. So what are your thoughts on the name? What are some middle ideas for it?
I think it’s kinda cool, but [name_m]Jared[/name_m] [name_f]Leto[/name_f] came to mind immediately
I think it’s nice but hard to disassociate from [name_m]Jared[/name_m]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] has a nice sound, but I think the [name_m]Jared[/name_m] [name_f]Leto[/name_f] association is so strong. He’s done music and movies for so long, so I feel like most people know him from at least one thing. I also think of his brother [name_u]Shannon[/name_u].
(I also don’t think the [name_m]Jared[/name_m] [name_f]Leto[/name_f] association is a bad thing though! I know he’s had some negative things associated with him, but overall he’s a nice association to have)
In addition to the overwhelming Jared Leto association, I’ve always had doubts as to the pronunciation (“leh-tow” vs “lee-tow”)
But if you love it, absolutely try it out! It is definitely fun and spunky, and I am confident that you will be able to create a wonderful combo for it!
I love the name. I came up with it without knowing it was a name, years ago when naming an OC who was male. I never think of [name_m]Jared[/name_m] [name_f]Leto[/name_f] when I see it because I knew the name before I knew who he was lol. No mn ideas atm but I thought I’d share my love for it :’)
Yeah it’s definitely kinda cool, so I like it. I’d agree that the [name_m]Jared[/name_m] [name_f]Leto[/name_f] association is very strong, but that’s not really a bad thing (or at least, not based on what I know about him).
I agree with @may.rose that I’ve also never been entirely sure on the pronunciation. Although the potential differences (in my mind) are quite subtle.
It reminds me of names like [name_u]Hero[/name_u] and [name_u]Caro[/name_u], so I can definitely see the appeal!
I’d go with something quite feminine in the middle and avoid repeating OH sounds. From your UC, perhaps…
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Helena[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Amalia[/name_f]
I think it’s cool and spunky and would be thrilled to meet a little [name_f]Leto[/name_f] out in the world but I don’t think I can get passed the [name_m]Jared[/name_m] [name_f]Leto[/name_f] association. But after the [name_m]Jared[/name_m] link I do think of the Ancient Greek link.
As for middle names I think something a little bit softer but still a little spunky would work well, such as:
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Talitha[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Maelys[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_u]Lark[/name_u]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Astrid[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
[name_m]Can[/name_m] I also suggest the name [name_f]Leda[/name_f] as a slightly more feminine or softer version to [name_f]Leto[/name_f]?
Not that familiar with [name_m]Jared[/name_m] [name_f]Leto[/name_f] so my first thoughts is it seemed like a mix between [name_u]Jay[/name_u] [name_m]Leno[/name_m] and the Keto diet
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] is cool!
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Adele[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Carolina[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Amaryllis[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Cornelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Sienna[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_u]Florence[/name_u]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f]
[name_f]Leto[/name_f] is a very cool, spunky name. I like the goddess and Greek mythology association. I’ve never heard of [name_m]Jared[/name_m] [name_f]Leto[/name_f].
I think it’s different. It’s not really my style, but I can see it working. I do think of [name_m]Jared[/name_m] [name_f]Leto[/name_f] but I don’t think he’s a problem or troublesome association. I think you would get some pronunciation confusion - LEE-toh versus LEH-toh.
I was just thinking about this name, so I thought I’d join the conversation. I love this name! The mythological connection is great. The sound is cool yet pretty. It’s got a lot going for it
