Quick question about the name [name_f]Liana[/name_f]… What do you think of it? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think people would have too much trouble pronouncing it? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like it?
I pronounce it [name_m]Le[/name_m]-ah-na personally, but I know many people will end up saying [name_m]Le[/name_m]-ann-a (my mother for instance lol). I’m trying to decide if I could get used to that because it’s such a pretty name or if it would drive me nuts!!
I like it [name_m]Le[/name_m]-ah-na, but I do think you’d have to get used to people saying [name_u]Lee[/name_u]-ann-a (which isn’t my favorite personally)
[name_f]Liana[/name_f] is a gorgeous name. I don’t think too many people would mispronounce it, but I do think that people would mispronounce it. If you don’t mind correcting them, I think it would be fine. Many names get pronounced incorrectly though, so I don’t think it should put you off the name completely.
I think it’s a very pretty, serene name with lots of appeal! I don’t think people will have trouble saying it, as [name_f]Briana[/name_f] is a similar name.
Thanks for your thoughts on this!! I feel the same way… that it’s such a pretty familiar sounding name, but then I wonder why is it so seldomly used!? I’ve never actually met a [name_f]Liana[/name_f] so it will be interesting to see if we’re brave enough to use it for our daughter.
I say lee-[name_m]AH[/name_m]-nuh but I a) don’t live in [name_u]America[/name_u], and b) grew up with a [name_f]Liana[/name_f], so I might not be the best indicator of pronunciation.
I think it’s a really lovely name, and whether you have people calling her [name_m]Le[/name_m]-[name_m]AH[/name_m]-na or [name_m]Le[/name_m]-[name_f]ANN[/name_f]-a, I don’t think it will make that much of a difference. Besides, when your daughter is old enough, she will always have the option of 2 different name pronunciations to choose from!
