Thoughts on Lilia?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone!

So my husband and I are still fighting over what to name our sweet little girl - she’s not due until the beginning of [name_u]March[/name_u], so we have some time.

We haven’t been able to agree on many names, but one we did semi-agree on is [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. Unfortunately, we both have acquaintances who have daughters by this name, so I’m kind of on the fence about using it for our LO. I do however, love [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] and would love to get some thoughts/feedback as using it instead of [name_f]Lily[/name_f].

Any feedback is helpful. Our last name is Matic.

Thanks in advance! <3

I like it with your surname

I love the name, I have a close friend whose daughter is called [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] and I love it when I say it. It’s such a pretty name, and goes very well with your surname.

[name_f]Lilia[/name_f] is beautiful. [name_f]Libby[/name_f] would also work well.

I think [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] is a really beautiful name. It is very close to [name_f]Lily[/name_f], but if it’s only acquaintances and not family members with daughter’s named [name_f]Lily[/name_f], I don’t think that should stop you from using it.

It’s adorable with your surname

It does sound great with your last name, but for me the short-and-pretty L names ending with A have lost their sparkle ([name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_f]Lola[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f] etc).

I would choose [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], [name_f]Lilibeth[/name_f], [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] or [name_f]Liliosa[/name_f]. THe last two seem good for you!

But as said, I do think [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] matches your last name very well, and there’s no good reason why you shouldn’t use it.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it! [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is very sweet and prettty but [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] is stunning :). [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] Matic works well too!

I like it. Our youngest daughter’s middle name is [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] - though similarly Lyanna was a consideration too.
There are lots of [name_f]Lily[/name_f]-like names and I wouldn’t worry too much about whether or not its too close to [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. That’s a popular name and it just happens.

But anyway. It’s cute. Goes well with your last name. If you still feel unsure about it - [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] is a pretty close alternative too.

I really like it! [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is pretty, but [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] is different (to me!) I also love [name_f]Lilliana[/name_f], as enoel3 mentioned  And although I dont like to use names that are very popular, I say pick the names that YOU like and mean something to you, no matter who else named their kids that name! Congratulations!

I love [name_f]Lilia[/name_f]! It’s sophisticated, elegant, understated, timeless. Easy to spell and pronounce, uncommon, and goes great with your last name. A total winner in my book!

In fact, I love it a lot more than any of the other options too. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is quite common and [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] feels a bit repetitive.

I only know one [name_f]Lilja[/name_f], with a j.

If I were to suggest any other options, this one’s a different name, but I also love Liris, for similar reasons. Came across it here on this forum not too long ago!

I think it’s lovely. You can call her [name_f]Lily[/name_f]!

I think it’s great, and it sounds better than [name_f]Lily[/name_f] with your surname.

[name_f]Lilia[/name_f] is lovely, very sweet and feminine! It’s what I would call on trend but not trendy- it fits right into current name trends, being quite similar to names that are popular right now like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], but [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] itself isn’t used that often. (Except in your circle, it seems!) If you have Eastern European heritage you could spell it [name_f]Lilja[/name_f] to make it a bit different, but I wouldn’t worry about it being too common. The extra syllable makes it sound distinctly different from [name_f]Lily[/name_f] to me.

Have you thought about [name_f]Lilah[/name_f] or [name_f]Lilith[/name_f]? I think they are much prettier names and lily could still be used as a nickname. [name_f]Liora[/name_f] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] also have a similar vibe.

It’s okay. It’s not my preference but I don’t hate it. I prefer other [name_f]Lil[/name_f]- names ([name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Lilac[/name_f], [name_f]Lilibet[/name_f], Lilit, Lilita) but I have no strong negative feelings with [name_f]Lilia[/name_f].

The one problem I have though is how it sounds with your surname. Liliamatic sounds like [name_f]Lili[/name_f]-o-matic, like it’s some kind of newfangled machine. The Fix-O-Matic 3000, the Grip-o-matic. I think any names that sound in an A or O would cause this issue.

I really like [name_f]Lilia[/name_f]. My favourite is probably [name_f]Lillianna[/name_f] but [name_f]Lilla[/name_f] and [name_f]Liliane[/name_f] are sweet too. I go by [name_f]Lili[/name_f] and there are so many [name_f]Lily[/name_f] and Lillys out there, it would be refreshing to meet a [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] and it goes beautifully with your last name too. If you do love [name_f]Lily[/name_f] though and plan to call her [name_f]Lily[/name_f], I don’t think it should matter who else has the name. Call her what you love.
