I’ve recently fallen in love with the name ”lios, pronounced “ee-lee-oh-s”, which means “sun” in Greek.
I like the potential nicknames ”ly (which I think is cute, but unfortunately sounds exactly like eely) and [name_m]Leo[/name_m] (I like this spelling more, but think that [name_m]Lio[/name_m] is more appropriate/less of a stretch because of how the full name is spelled). My main questions are: do you think it’s usable as a first name? And, if so, do you think it would fit in with siblings named [name_f]Ursa[/name_f], Ester, [name_f]Lucille[/name_f], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], or [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]?
Any thoughts or opinions at all are much appreciated, as are middle name suggestions.
”lios is totally usable and really sweet and strong, but I’m a sucker for Greek myths and names. I don’t think [name_m]Leo[/name_m] is a stretch at all and works really well as a nickname. ”ly sounds really cute, but then I remembered the eel, so I think ”y would work best as a nickname just for when at home. As for the sibsets, I think ”lios goes well with [name_f]Ursa[/name_f] and [name_m]Felix[/name_m], but not so much the others. My suggestion would be to either use it as a middle or shorten the full name to ”lio. I find s ending names always sound much more powerful/too strong for a modern day human.
From your signature, I like ”lios [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], ”lios [name_m]Henrik[/name_m], and ”lios [name_m]Peter[/name_m] the best.
What about ”lios [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m], ”lios [name_m]William[/name_m], ”lios [name_m]Clarke[/name_m], or ”lios [name_m]Jack[/name_m].
I like it! I think it’s usable and that it would really fit in with [name_f]Ursa[/name_f]. I would probably use a more traditional middle name, such as (from your list) [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. Also, I think it’s totally okay to spell the nickname as [name_m]Leo[/name_m] rather than [name_m]Lio[/name_m] despite the full name’s spelling.
