So, what do you think of Lochran (rhymes with [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m]) for a boy? My niece mentioned it the other day as a possible name for her baby due in [name_f]May[/name_f]. I like the way it sounds, but for some reason, not the way it looks. They have an Irish last name.
I adore [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] but not fond of Lochran. I think people might think it was a misprint, misspelling, and/or mispronunciation of [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m].
I believe it would get misspelled/misheard as [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m] sometimes, but I do really love the sound of it! I’ve seen it as Locryn before though I prefer the Lochran spelling. I think it’d be a fine choice!
I much prefer [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] and [name_m]Lorcan[/name_m] but I can see the appeal. I’d imagine it popping up in one of those ‘If you like ‘insert name here’ then you might like these…’ lists, if someone might be looking for inspiration past the aforementioned two. It’s not a bad name, [name_f]IMO[/name_f], and I don’t think it’d raise too many eyebrows. It does sound very ‘Irish-surname’ like to me, though, so, depending on which particular Irish surname they hold (and just how Irish it sounds) I might avoid it.
Sorry not a fan. To me it sounds like mispronouncing [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m]. He would forever be correcting people.
To me, Lochran has a heavy, dark feel. Whereas [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] has a familiar, friendly feel. I also think you could mishear Lochran for [name_m]Lochlan[/name_m] a lot.
It looks made up, which I think makes the parents and ultimately the child seem unintelligent.
