Thoughts on Luna?

Trendy?

Be honest!

I love it! But it reminds me too much of looney, she could be made fun of for that

Funny you say that - it occurred to me in the shower!

Not my style, but it’s not a bad name; though, yes, I think it’s getting popular.

I think many people associate the name with [name]Luna[/name] Lovegood, the kind-hearted (but very spacy) friend of [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name]. I met a 3-year-old [name]Luna[/name] recently, wearing very sparkly shoes at a fast-food restaurant. The name fit her well. I’d say go for it!

I see a lot of [name]Luna[/name] and personally I just don’t see the appeal. [name]Lucy[/name] could be a nice alternative.

I love [name]Luna[/name]. It’s less popular than [name]Lucy[/name] (and less whiny, imo–I really don’t see the appeal in [name]Lucy[/name], much as I’d like to), striking, feminine, evocative. I would love to meet a [name]Luna[/name]! I don’t know about trendy–I think it could be, but I think it’ll never have the mass appeal that [name]Lucy[/name] has, so I doubt it’ll get quite so popular (sort of like [name]Lucy[/name] has the sweet sort of appeal as [name]Lily[/name], but I doubt it’ll get as popular as [name]Lily[/name] has gotten…).

Good luck!

I adore [name]Luna[/name]! As you can probably see from my sig  I do worry that by the time I’m ready for children, the name will be very popular but that’s also a long way off.

[name]Luna[/name] is one of my favorites! Yes yes yes

I love [name]Luna[/name]. It’s pretty, and not super popular.

I love [name]Luna[/name]. It’s on our short list.

[name]Luna[/name] is one of those names that even though it may seem trendy to people like us who are immersed in names, it will never be as popular as, say, [name]Sophie[/name] or [name]Emily[/name] or [name]Lucy[/name]. So I guess it depends on what you mean by “trendy.” Name nerd trendy? You betcha. But mainstream, “[name]Emma[/name]” trendy? Naw. Won’t ever get there. It’s too unusual and distinctive. It will stay rare enough that if there is more than one [name]Luna[/name] in her kindergarten class, it will be surprising to everyone.

Put it this way: a name being too popular definitely keeps me from using it. It’s the reason I would never use [name]Bella[/name], although it’s beautiful. But [name]Luna[/name]? I just don’t see it ever getting too trendy for me to use.

I don’t think it’s to trendy and it is a great name. The problem with it to me is ‘Looney Lovegood’ ([name]Luna[/name] Lovegood from [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name].)

I love [name]Luna[/name]! I go back and forth on whether or not I would actually use it though. The similarity to “looney” and “lunatic” is a concern for me. Then again, [name]Luna[/name] Lovegood is one of my favorite HP characters and I love the sound, feel, and connection to the moon. It’s a beautiful name that I would love to see used more often.

[name]One[/name] of my favourite. I adore it since the first time I heard about it.
