When I first saw this name I thought it was completely weird, but it’s starting to grow on me. Plus, the nn Luxie isn’t that much different from [name]Lexie[/name], so that makes it seem a little more wearable to me.

I like [name]Lux[/name], actually… I knew a girl named [name]Luz[/name] (LOOS) growing up, so [name]Lux[/name] actually doesn’t seem that different. I keep meeting this guy named [name]Lux[/name] through work, though, so it’s starting to feel a bit ambiguous to me, but I do think it’s a cool name! I do like the option of [name]Lucy[/name] as a nn, too, possibly. I actually love [name]Lux[/name] with your children ([name]Boston[/name] and [name]Piper[/name], right?)–I think it fits completely. I actually can’t think of anything I think fits more, lol.

I love the look of the name, but when I say it outloud it’s very unsubstantial. As a middle name it’s great.

I’m sorry but I hate it. It sounds “hipster” and trashy. I can only imagine a grown woman with the name [name]Lux[/name] dancing alongside “[name]Brandi[/name]” and “[name]Krystal[/name]” at the local topless bar.

I really love [name]Lux[/name], and I don’t see any reason to avoid it just because of the Virgin Suicides association. Other names that mean light are popular, so why not [name]Lux[/name]? It’s a name that could go either ethereal or punk to me, and I like that openness of the name. It could fit the baby as she grows into the person she’s meant to be without pushing her in any particular direction.

My husband and I were set on this name until I had a dream of children chanting at her on the playground “[name]Lux[/name] Sucks”. I think the teasing potential is just too great for me to use it. ( I also have concerns that it rhymes with another 4 letter word so teasing could get much worse in middle school. Otherwise, I love the name.

It’s nice in theory, but in reality I don’t think it’s a name that can be taken seriously… to echo others, it does sound a bit stripper-ish and the rhyming thing isn’t good either!
I like it. I think kids can came up with cruel nicknames for every name, so I don’t think it’s such a big deal.

Very weird that you have started this thread I was just about to. I [name]LOVE[/name] the name! Along with [name]Piper[/name] and [name]Boston[/name] is perfect. It is a name I am also considering and love but wonder if others will like it and what middle names go along with [name]Lux[/name]? Also I do like the nn Luxie besides the fact that it sounds like [name]Lexi[/name] and that is way too common. But [name]Lord[/name] knows she will be Luxie in school. I do not agree that it is a stripper name I don’t get that association. And the Virgin Suicides is where I first heard the name as a kid and have loved it since then. I think the movie is old enough and one that not a whole lot of people know that I think its ok.
