I am expecting #3 in [name]March[/name] 2013. We have a DS [name]Moses[/name] and DD [name]Violet[/name]. [name]Just[/name] wanting to see people’s reaction to it. Any other suggestions most welcome. Also we cannot find any boys names that we agree on so any suggestions that would fit a brother for [name]Moses[/name] would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
Nothing wrong with [name]Mabel[/name]. I think it goes really well with [name]Violet[/name]. It’s a little incongruous with [name]Moses[/name] but then unless you pick another Bible name most things are going to be. I don’t think it’s really a problem. The alliteration of ‘[name]Moses[/name] and [name]Mabel[/name]’ is still nice.
As for boys, as long as you avoid [name]Aaron[/name] you’ll be alright. Something like [name]Moses[/name], [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Eli[/name]? [name]Moses[/name], [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Isaac[/name]? [name]Moses[/name], [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name]?
I really like [name]Mabel[/name] (nn [name]Belle[/name] and [name]Mae[/name]). It has the same vintage feel as [name]Violet[/name]. I also like [name]Harriet[/name] with [name]Violet[/name]
Other boy options:
[name]Levi[/name] - shares a biblical theme with [name]Moses[/name] and a strong ‘V’ sound with [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Levin[/name]/[name]Levon[/name] - work in a similar way
[name]Joseph[/name]/[name]Elijah[/name]/[name]Noah[/name]/[name]Jonah[/name] are all other biblical names that I think are lovely.
A great name and a great fit with [name]Moses[/name] and [name]Violet[/name].
As for names that fit with [name]Moses[/name], how about [name]Josiah[/name]?
I also [name]Felix[/name] with your set. [name]Moses[/name], [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Felix[/name].
I like [name]Mabel[/name] pretty well with [name]Moses[/name] and [name]Violet[/name].
For boys I can see [name]Solomon[/name] and [name]Julian[/name].
I have a coworker named [name]Mabel[/name]. She’s in her thirties and she likes her name. I found it to be strange at first but have grown to like it. She gets may-belle a lot and its now a running joke here so we call her that in good fun. I think it works with the names you have already
I will be the dissenting voice and say I don’t care for it. I still think it carries an image of a sassy diner waitress; it’s one of the folksy names of generations past that still sounds antiquated. Some older names can seem outdated but sophisticated (like [name]Dorothy[/name]); to my ear [name]Mabel[/name] is closer to [name]Floyd[/name] and [name]Myrtle[/name].
[name]Moses[/name] and [name]Violet[/name] are a very intriguing pair of siblings. Since they compliment each other but don’t match, I would avoid selecting a name that firmly is in the same style category as either (i.e. no botanical sister, no biblical brother). I think the following straddle the right line between antique and sophisticated, but not too fussy to match the down-home style of [name]Moses[/name] and [name]Violet[/name].
