We find out on Feb 5 if we are having a boy or a girl, but right now we are loving the name [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] if baby is a girl. What are your thoughts? I’m thinking [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] at the moment.
I love it, I’m just not sure because both names are popular. The spelling of [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] does sort of counteract the popular-ness, but I’m not sure if it does enough. Honestly, though, I like it more than I care about popularity.
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] is not really my style, but the flow is good and you all agree on it, so I say go for it!
[name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] [name_f]Olivia[/name_f] is very pretty. While both names are on the popular side, the combination is lovely and unexpected. It’s a really nice name.
I think it’s better to spell it the traditional way, [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f].
Definitely agree that it’s very popular. Would go with the spelling [name_f]Madeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f], myself. Something about [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] is distinctly American. It also seems to make the name harder to pronounce, like MAID-lyn not MAD-uh-line
I would also go with [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] (or [name_f]Madeline[/name_f]). I would also associate [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] with ‘Americaness’, a bit tacky American even if I am being completely honest with you. But [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is a beautiful classic name and it does not need a different spelling to ‘counter out’ the popularity of it. Your little one will be unique anyway. I also would not be worried about both names being to popular, if you really love them just go for it.
I agree. [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] is a classic. But [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f]/[name_f]Madeline[/name_f] was uber-popular in the 1990’s and I think, lost some appeal as a result.
