What do you like/dislike about this name? Does Indie work as a nickname? Is it outdated?

It’s okay! I like the beginning sound, ‘Mal-’, it’s very assertive and I dig it. I also do like the possibility for nickname [name_u]Indie[/name_u], which I think definitely works. Im just not really loving the end, I think it’s just one of those sounds that isn’t super pleasing to my ears! I think I’d prefer something like [name_f]Malina[/name_f] over [name_f]Malinda[/name_f]. It doesn’t feel dated to me, but it does remind me of names like [name_f]Belinda[/name_f] or [name_f]Linda[/name_f] which can be seen as quite dated.

I see it and I always wish it was [name_f]Melinda[/name_f] or [name_f]Malina[/name_f]. It seems sort of unnecessarily differently-spelled, if that makes sense?

To me it feels very dated. I think indie is a stretch. [name_f]Lindy[/name_f] seems like a more natural nickname and it’s cute!

I’d prefer [name_f]Melinda[/name_f] but [name_f]Malinda[/name_f] is nice too. I think [name_u]Indie[/name_u] works

I would say it the same as [name_f]Melinda[/name_f] (muh-linda) so I foresee some spelling issues. Its dated but has an ok sound.
