Thoughts on Marie as a FIRST name?

Normally I like a little spunkier names but are still more on the classic side. I have really developed a love for [name_f]Marie[/name_f] as a first name, but I feel like most still see it as bland.

Right now, if it ends up being a girl, our top names are [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] ([name_f]Gwen[/name_f]) or [name_f]Elise[/name_f]. I’m personally leaning towards [name_f]Gwyneth[/name_f] at this point, but I still find myself looking. My husband has nixed all the other names I love in my signature. I haven’t run [name_f]Marie[/name_f] by him yet, and I know his first reaction will be, “No - boring,” so I want to see if I can get some help on anything I can say to help sway him.

I was thinking [name_f]Marie[/name_f] [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]. [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] is a variant of my mother-in-law’s name.

I’m sorry. [name_f]Marie[/name_f] will forever be one of the most universally over-used names in the world. It’s dull and lifeless. There’s nothing I can ‘picture’ when hearing the name because -so- many people from -so- many different backgrounds have that name. It’s a knee-jerk name.

It feels like [name_f]Marie[/name_f] has to be followed up with something epic to justify it. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if you changed it to [name_f]Mari[/name_f] its more interesting

Boring, sounds like so mething a cranky school librarian would be called. It’s even kind of dull as a middle name.
