What are your thoughts on [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] (nn [name_f]Mae[/name_f])? Is it too old-lady?
I think it’s really cute. And names similar to that are making a serious comeback. I certainly prefer it over similar names like [name_u]Meredith[/name_u].
I agree with the poster above. If [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u], [name_f]Adelyn[/name_f], [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f] are all normal then [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] is too. [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] has always been a favorite of mine. I think it is gorgeous especially with the nickname [name_f]Mae[/name_f]. Plus it’s not too popular which is always a bonus.
I love [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f]! I really like the vintage vibe, and glamorous, feisty feel she has. Definitely a winner in my opinion.
I love [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f]. I much prefer [name_u]Marian[/name_u], but [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] has such a sweet and spunky vide to it!
I really like it. Not a fan of [name_f]Mari[/name_f] or [name_f]Lynne[/name_f] as nicknames, but [name_f]Mae[/name_f] would be cute
It’s classy
[name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] is definitely mid-century, but still a nice name.
[name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] is pretty!

[name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] is great! It has that classic, old Hollywood vibe, but also looks fresh next to choices like [name_f]Madelyn[/name_f].
[name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] does have a definite baby boomer feel to me, but that said, I know I glamorous twenty-something [name_f]Carolyn[/name_f] who totally rocks her name, so I wouldn’t discard it for that reason. I love the nickname [name_f]Mae[/name_f].

I love the nickname [name_f]Mae[/name_f] and I think [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] has rich nickname potential, if your daughter chose not to use it in full.
Personally I really love it, and would consider using it myself. While [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] is still in mind, it’s a very useable name with a few nickname options such as [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_u]Lyn[/name_u], [name_f]May[/name_f], [name_f]Lina[/name_f], Riri etc.
It sounds very fresh to me and not too ‘old lady’.
[name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] is lovely and makes me think of classic, old-hollywood glamour.
The -lyn names (madelyn, adelyn, evelyn etc) are making a comeback which definitely works in its favour, with [name_f]Marilyn[/name_f] being able to still stand out.
It’s too classic to be old lady. I like it.
